Hayley's POV:

I feel the warm sun on my face as we walk along the streets of the busy French Quarter. There's a special market today and every inch of space is packed. I turn to Elijah who is walking beside me, hand in hand.

"Maybe today wasn't the best for date night." I say

"It is quite...claustrophobic." He says with a smile

Just then a man shoves me on the shoulder and I whip around. I'm about to just ignore it when the guy flips me off.

"That's not very polite." Elijah tells him
"Bitch should've watched where she was going." The guy says

Elijah snatches him by the arm and the man tries to fight him off but he's obviously no match for an Original.

I step in.

"No Elijah it's okay." I say

I turn to the man.

"You're going to follow us quietly." I say

We all slip into an alleyway and as soon as I know we're alone I sink my fangs into the guy's neck and feed. Elijah joins me as well, feeding on his wrist. When I'm done, I force him to look at me.

"You're going to remember coming to the festival and pissing off a woman who kicked your ass. You're going to be more respectful from women from now on." I say compelling him

Then I force feed him my blood so he heals then toss him into the wall. He crumples to the ground, motionless.

He'll feel a bit weak and be a bit bruised but he'll live.

"Couldn't have handled that better myself." Elijah says with a small smile

We head out of the alley and back into the street. Over the next few hours we shop a bit and eat dinner at a nice restaurant. I check the time and realize it's later than I thought so we head toward home.

As we make our way through the French Quarter I catch sight of a fight brewing between two vampires, a young female and slightly older male. He's trying to move her towards the car and she's visibly shaking her head that she doesn't want to.

I spring into action when he grabs her arm as she snaps at him to let go. Her voice grows louder as he refuses to release her.

"Let her go." I say

I grab his arm and tighten my grip. He yells out in pain as a bone snaps.

"Oh so sorry about that." I growl sarcastically
"Get off me bitch!"
"Let her go!"

He does begrudgingly.

It's only when the altercation ends that I realize Elijah is gone. I scan around at where he was standing only moments ago.

Nothing.
