Klaus's POV:

I'm painting in the study when I hear something clatter to the floor. I turn to see my paintbrushes scattered around and a guilty looking Hope standing there. She gives me a smile.

"Hey princess." I say
"Sorry Dad." She replies and leans down to pick them up
"What're you doing?" I ask as I move to help her

Together we pick them up at put them back in the jar.

"I wanted to watch you paint." She says with a small smile

"You can watch me paint anytime love." I say

I guide her over to show her my recent artwork: a massive ship on a dark blue open sea, faint signs of wispy clouds in the sky. The ship has three large masts made of dark brown wood.

"Dad this is beautiful!" She says as her eyes scan the canvas, her smiling widening as she takes it in

I smile as I watch her.

I couldn't find the right shades of paint so I went about mixing and making them myself. It took a few nights hidden away in the study and a couple hours of 'girl time' with Hayley, Lorelei and Rebekah.

"I'm glad you like it. I painted it for you." I say

"Wow! Thanks Dad!" She says and walks over, wrapping me in a hug

When we step out of the embrace, Hope lights up again.

"I've actually been making something myself." She tells me

"Oh do tell." I reply

"Come on!"

We take off out of the study and into the living room. Elijah is talking with Hayley quietly and when we arrive, they stop. Hayley's serious expression breaks out into a smile when Hope walks in.

"You going to go show him?" She asks her with a knowing wink

"Yeah." Hope says

"I need to steal you when you're done." Hayley tells me

"Alright."

I join Hope in her room. She brings me over to her own easel where there's a beautiful painting a vivid green forest. Sunlight breaks through the trees. Birds are mid flight or sitting on trees.

"Remarkable love." I say and take it all in

Hope's painting has come such a long way through the years. She's been experimenting a lot more with color shades as well as trying out sketches. As much as she found it frustrating sometimes, she grew to like it.

However painting held a special place in her heart. The entire compound was decorated with her artwork over the years. From simple stick figures to basic animals and more. It was always beautiful to see how much she's grown.

"Maybe we can paint together sometime?" She suggests

"I would love that."
