Lorelei's POV:

I sprint after a deer, then another.

Not at all satisfied with either kill.

I'd spent the entire night running around the mountain. I crashed inside a fallen tree, sleeping the day away until I needed to feed.

I'm deep enough into the woods.

Deeper than any random camper would go.

But I did find a few and compelled them back with me. Every so often I simply killed the campers at their sites but I wasn't ready to leave here yet. Can't draw too much attention.

I drag one of the male bodies on top of another two and douse it with gas and light a match.

Then I sense someone behind me.

I know who it is before I even turn around.

"Hello love." Nik says casually, leaning against a tree

I respond to this by adding more gas to the flame and it grows higher.

He arches his eyebrows but says nothing.

"What are you doing here Nik? Didn't catch the hint when I cloaked myself?" I demand

"Didn't need magic to track you down. I figured you'd know how to disappear without a trace. It turns out all I needed was to wait until you got sloppy. After that, all I had to do was follow the trail of missing or murdered campers. Animal attacks? Didn't think so."

"Great. You found me. What do you want?"

"Care to explain this?" He asks tossing an object toward me

I catch it easily and look down at my palm.

My ring.

I can hear his voice in my head.

"I want you to know that in this life and the next, I want you by my side."

"I thought it was pretty self explanatory, no?"

Klaus's POV:

I stand there, stunned.

With everything that had been going on, we decided it was best to wait. We set a date for a month from now.

How did everything fall apart so quickly?

I step towards her and she backs up.

"Talk to me love. What's changed?"

"I killed a bunch of children Nik!"

I feel a stab of pain at this.

She avoids my gaze.

"Lorelei you are not at fault for that." I insist sincerely

"I doubt that's how their parents feel."

She shrugs and crosses her arms over her chest and stares off into the distance.

"It doesn't matter anymore anyway."

This is the first time I finally sense that something isn't right. She doesn't look upset.

Expressionless.

"Lorelei what did you do?"
