Klaus's POV:
I walk into the compound with Lorelei over my shoulder. She had charged me when I had tried to talk her into coming home. I'd done my best to take her down without harming her.
Realizing she wasn't going to win, she took off and I went after her. Of course I wondered if I was making the wrong decision, coming after her like this. Perhaps Elijah was right.
Then I found out about the bodies she was starting to leave behind.
Carelessness will get her killed.
Either by humans or vampires.
Vampires will kill her to keep themselves from being discovered.
Humans will hunt her out of fear.
She'll keep running.
Elijah walks in along with Freya.
"What is happening right now?" Freya asks gesturing to Lorelei
"She's home. That's all that matters." I say clearly wanting to end this chat
"Nikklaus-" Elijah begins
I continue on my way to the bedroom.
Hayley's POV:
Freya's in the kitchen making tea when I walk in with Hope. She'd been at a play date all afternoon. I grab a blood bag.
"Good news. Lorelei's home."
Her face doesn't exactly scream: happy.
She looks worried.
"What aren't you saying?" I ask
"She and Klaus got into a fight when he tried to bring her home. He believes that she might've flipped her humanity switch but we don't know yet for sure." She explains
"She fought Klaus? I would've paid good money to see that. So if he brought her home, how does he not know if he flipped her switch?" I question
"He snapped her neck and she's been out since then." Freya says
Thoughts encircle my mind.
Everything had gone back to normal.
For the most part.
Flashback:
The person next to me lights their candle then tilts it towards me. I hold my wick up and it catches. Then I too, hold it out for the next person.
This was a vigil for every child who had died when Klaus killed Shawn to save my life. It was Shawn who put it all into motion that night but we all blamed ourselves, wondering if we could've done better. If we could've saved them.
Nobody had any answers.
We took time to heal.
Then grieve for our city.
"Such a travesty. The Ancestors should've prevented this." A woman behind me says
She's whispering like she doesn't want anyone else to hear what she has to say.
Whether she was trying to keep her feelings from the families or the other witches, I wasn't certain.
"They knew he was out. I talked to Karo and they seemed to have just let him go." Another says back
Why would the Ancestors let a child killer cross back over?
