Lorelei's POV:

I lie on top of a woman, my fangs deep in her neck as the music plays loudly from the large speakers on stage and smaller ones around the rest of the club. The lights flash in strobes of greens, reds, blues and orange. I close my eyes and focus on the blood flowing into my mouth.

A hand touches my shoulder.

"Come dance with me!" Annabeth says in my ear even though I could've heard her either way

I stop feeding and wipe my lips with the back of my hand. I look down at the woman I'm straddling. Her brown eyes staring up at me and I softly move her auburn hair away from her eyes. I lean down, bite my wrist and heal her.

I may be a few towns over but I don't want to leave any trace I was here.

In case Nik tries to snatch me again.

I just want to be free of everything.

What's so wrong with that?

Annabeth grabs my arm and pulls me towards the stage. There are a few dancers in the side stages but no strippers on the main one. I watch as she wraps her arms around the pole and spins slowly. She wraps her legs around the pole, elegantly bending backwards. I'm in awe as I watch her. Then I too join in on a separate pole, wrapping my hands around, climbing up then slowly spinning downwards.

We get an applause and a few chants as we get down and head back to our bench.

"So what's going on with you? You seem..different." Annabeth asks

"I flipped my switch." I reply casually

She raises her eyebrows in surprise but says nothing. I scan her expression, trying to figure out if there's any insight into what she's thinking. She seems shocked but not bothered by this new information.

Cool.

"I'm going to head out." I say

"Hold up, I'll come with." She says as she stands back up

I stop her.

"Unless you're hungry for deer." I say with a hinting smile

Her eyes go wide for a moment and her mouths hang open once she realizes what I mean.

"Oh! Okay. I'll catch up with you at some point. Keep in touch and don't die."

I take off outside.

In search of a new location, I head down the street and eventually run into a gas station. I walk in and look around. There's a bulletin on the far front wall, next to the one register. There's brochures of places to vacation, some about the town's history, etc.

I find one about the state forests and open it to check out the map, looking for ways to sneak in. They keep track at the entrances and I don't want to be caught on camera. Especially if I decide to stay there for awhile.

Mountains here I come.
