Lorelei's POV:

Flashback:

I'm sitting on a tree limb out in the bayou when Hayley walks over. We just finished one of our runs in the woods. I had finished before her so I decided to just sit down and enjoy the sunrise.

"What are you doing up there?" Hayley asks
"Come and see for yourself."

She leaps up and grabs a branch. I watch as she moves gracefully from limb to limb faster than the human eye could see. Seconds later she's standing on a tree limb adjacent to me.

There's a faint swirl of pink and orange in the sky as the sun rises. White puffy clouds fill every inch of space and from up here you can see them for miles.

"Wow. It's beautiful." Hayley says amazed

Flashback:

Nik and I are standing in the French Quarter after a date. I'm wearing a dark red dress and he's in a button up. One of the musicians on the street starts to play. Nik takes my hand and spins me around as I laugh.

"I'm not a great dancer." I say still laughing

He chuckles.

We start gently swaying back-and-forth and I smile up at him. He places a gentle kiss on my forehead and I close my eyes, taking in the moment. With all the craziness in our lives it's nice to have a peaceful one.

He steps back and spins me again.

"I guess I'll just have to teach you."

Flashback:

I stare out into the woods after my first turn and am amazed by how strong my senses are.

(We'd been trained for this but it was something else to experience it firsthand.)

I can see without any issue, perfect vision. I scan the tree tops and catch squirrels jump from tree to tree as they chitter to themselves.

In an instant I catch a wiff of a familiar scent.

Deer.

I take off into the woods after it, running faster than ever before. The leaves graze against my fur and I turn my nose down to the ground, tracking the scent. I turn to the right and then a left and catch it in my sights. It's a 4 year old buck with large antlers and it perks up as he sees me. Then he takes off sprinting out deeper into the woods.
