Chapter 39

Today is the day.

It's Matt and I's one year anniversary.

M: Good afternoon princess
S: Hey handsome
M: Be ready for dinner tonight at 7. wear something fancy ;)
S: Okay see you then

I had one hour to get ready.

I got on my navy blue dress that showed my curves and I slightly curled my hair on the ends.

I applied a little bit of makeup but not too much.

Matt pulled up into my driveway and knocked on my door.

I opened it to see Matt in a suit and a rose in his hands.

"For you." He smiled and handed me it.

"Thank you." I smiled smelling it. "It's beautiful."

"But it will never be as beautiful as you princess." Matt grabbed my hand and we walked out to his car.

"Have fun kids!" My mom yelled as she shut the door behind us.

(Yes my parents were actually home for once)

Matt grabbed my hand and gently placed a kiss on it.

I blushed and tried to cover it up.

"I love it when you blush." Matt smiled.

"I love you." I replied.

"I love you more."

We walked into the restaurant and I was amazed about how fancy this place was.

"Matt you didn't have to-" He cut me off.

"Yes I did baby." He said.

"Reservations for Espinosa." He said to the lady.

"Come this way."

She led us outside and I gasped at what I saw.

"Oh my god Matt!" I exclaimed.

They sat us out on the terrace and you could see the city and the ocean.

There were candles placed on the table and steak cooked to perfection on the plates.

"This is beautiful." Were all the words I could think about.

Matt pulled out a chair for me and I sat down, still comprehending what was going on.

We picked up our glasses filled with some liquid and did a cheers, then took a sip.

"Wow." I mumbled. "What is this?"

"Champagne." Matt responded taking another sip.

We started eating our steak, taking in all the amazing flavors.

When we were both done we decided to share a chocolate lava cake.

"Holy crap." Matt's eyes widened as he took a bite of the cake.

"So good." I agreed.

Matt and I watched the sun go down and drank more champagne.

"This was the best night ever." I smiled.

"I couldn't imagine spending it with another girl." He smiled back.

Matt turned to me and then got down on one knee as I gasped.

He opened the tiny box and inside was a promise ring.

"Oh Matt, you didn't have to." I said through my hand that was covering my mouth.

"Skyler Evans. I'm lost for words for how much I'm in love with you. My life would suck without you in it, and I never want to loose you. I want to grow old with you and spend the rest of my life with you. If you take this promise ring I'll be the happiest man alive."

I was lost for words. My eyes started to tear up and all I could think about doing was kissing him.

So I did.

After we parted he asked, "So that's a yes?"

I smiled and nodded my head.

He slipped the ring on my finger and I looked at it for a minute, still in shock that this had happened.

"I love you Matt." I whispered and we kissed again.

Matt and I had drank a lot of champagne so I didn't really want Matt to drive home.

"We can just call my parents." I suggested.

"No it's fine Skyler. I got this." He reassured me.

It was 1:30 am and I was super tired so I decided I would rest in the car. I also hoped that would distract me from thinking about what was going on.

Matt got me home safe.

I thanked him for the amazing night, kissed him and got out of the car.

I got dressed in my PJ's and brushed my teeth.

Right when I got comfortable, I heard an explosion coming from outside.

i literally have the biggest plot twist coming up
