Lyla and I began to skate home. We were half way there when I heard a familiar voice. "Hey faggot." It was Angus.

Angus lived just down the street from us and I couldn't stand him or his brother, Leo. He was supposed to be in the Philippines on vacation now. Why the hell was he here?

Angus and his shit group of friends used to bully Jai and I when we were in school. He's part of the reason we dropped out.

I continued to skate away with Lyla. But somehow he caught up and blocked our way.

I sighed. "I thought you were on vacation dickhead." I said angrily.

"Mum decided we would come home early, said she was homesick."

I tried to get passed him once again. "Not so fast." He smiled at Lyla. "You're the new girl right?" She nodded without interest.

"Lola?" He grinned mischievously.

"It's Lyla." She protested.

It was still raining.

"Oh you're pretty cute." He said lightly touching her cheek. She backed away.

"Back off!" I yelled getting in front of her protectively.

"Make me fag!" Angus yelled back, he was pleased that he had achieved to aggravate me.

Then without thinking, with all my strength I punched him straight in the face. He swiftly hit me back right in the mouth, making my lip ring jam into my lower gums.

A searing pain spread throughout my mouth and I fell to the ground. Angus began kicking me hard in the ribs. I could hear Lyla screaming at him to stop.

*Lyla's POV*

Luke and I were skating along home then some jerk stopped us and called Luke a fag. He had medium length shaggy brown hair and blue eyes. He was a lot taller than Luke.

Luke punched him and he backfired. He kept kicking him. I began to cry.

I needed to figure out a way to stop him, he could really hurt Luke. I thought fast and jumped on his back covering his eyes. He fell to the ground with me still his back.

My head hit the pavement hard and pain exploded through my entire body. I lightly touched the back of my head then looked at my hand it was covered in blood.

The guy Luke punched just laid there on the side of the road unconscious.

I ran over to Luke, blood was dripping out of his mouth and his eyes were closed shut. Tears swelled in my eyes. "Luke?" I lifted his head onto my lap, holding him.

"Luke!"I said even louder. His eyes opened just barely. "I'm....alright." He managed to get out.

I kissed his cheek. Then his eyes opened fully and he sat up. You could tell he had pain in his chest and stomach.

He stood up and so did I. We began to slowly walk home, leaving that guy on the ground. What else were we supposed to do? I could see the Brooks house, then I felt myself slowly start to drift off and the world around me went black.
