It was a very amusing turn of events with Rin's outburst of wanting to stay traveling with me. Not that I'm complaining. I'm rather happy that Rin is so attached to me. It was easy to accept Rins demand as the only ones who disagreed were Jaken and Inuyasha. So no one of importance.
Sesshomaru gave in easily seeing that if he said no, Rin would have been highly upset and definitely would have thrown several tantrums. His only requirement was to take Ah-Un with us, stating "This Sesshomaru does not trust the protection of a half-breed and weak humans", which is... fair if I'm being honest. If anything happens they won't have to focus too much on protecting us. Though I do have the ability to protect myself thank you very much.
Anyway. Now to the present.
It's been a couple of days, we are traveling back to Kaedes village so Kagome, and possibly me, can go back to the future for maybe a week. I'm hoping Rin might be able to travel through the well but honestly, I'm not even fully sure I can still go through the well myself. I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
We had decided to fly back to cut our travel time in half. Especially since we have Ah-Un, now Kirara doesn't have to carry everyone.
I hum softly, holding onto Rin as the dragon begins to lower below the clouds. I feel Kagome grip onto my shoulders from behind me.
We land in the clearing close to the well.
I hop off Ah-Un with Kagome "Ok Rin. Remember what I told you?" I question as I help her down.
"If you pass through the well and I don't, I will stay with Lady Kaede and you will be back in at least three days" Rin stated though she looked thoroughly offended at the thought of not being able to follow me through the well.
I chuckle softly, ruffling her hair playfully "Correct. Now don't give me that look. Tee is a possibility that you can pass through Orr that I can't pass either. Let's think of positive outcomes" I poke her nose, making her laugh.
Rin helped me instead Ah-Uns saddle while Kagome walked over to the others when Kirara landed. I grunt a bit, lifting up the saddle and dropping it next to the well with a huff. Rin unbuckled their muzzles and took off their reins.
The beast stretched out, opening their mouths in a wide yawn after the long travel. They then unceremoniously drop to the ground with a loud thud and roll around in the dirt. I snort softly, the image of a cat flashing through my mind 'Definitely shouldn't say that out loud' I grin.
"Alright, Ah-Un. You be good and stay here till we get back" I watch the overgrown lizard give no indication that they heard me. I roll my eyes fondly, giving them a good scratch on their heads.
Rin and I wait for Kagome as she says her farewells.
"Ok!" Kagome clapped her hands together as she approached us "Let's go to the future" she cheered softly, giving us a nervous grin.
"The future!" Rin cheered, jumping into my arms.
"Let's jump together" I suggest, holding Rin on my hip "might give us better chances"
With an affirmed nod, Kagome and I sat on opposite ends of the well. Rin held secure in my arms.
"Three" Kagome and I make eye contact.
"Two" I take a deep breath, anxiety swirling in my chest.
"One" I feel Rin grip onto me tightly as I follow Kagome, dropping into the well.
There was a rush of wind around us, making me close my eyes. I hold my hand over Rin's head to ensure she doesn't get hurt. Seconds later, though it felt like minutes, the ground seemed to materialize under me in a very soft landing.
I was still holding onto Rin so that meant one of two options...
I peek an eye open when I hear clothes being patted down.
"Hiro! Rin! You both made it through!" Kagome squealed, seeing me kneeling on the ground holding Rin.
I sigh with relief before giving Rin a soft past on the back " We made it rinne. You're in the future" I whisper soothingly, knowing the jump scared the little girl.
Kagome went ahead, climbing out of the well to get some modern clothes ready for us.
"Rinne bear. It's okay now" I run my fingers through her hair "You're still here with me, we're still together"
"...We're in the future?" She whispered, pulling away from me slowly. I watch her gain her bearings. She looked up to see the ceiling of the shrine and looked back at me with a blinding smile "I'm in the future with you!"
"Yes you definitely are" I chuckle and stand "Now that the hard part is over, we can relax and have some fun"
We climb up the rope ladder and make our way out of the well building. Rin looked around in awe, taking in all the sights of the shrine grounds.
I lead her to Kagome's home "There are some things I do need to take care of while we're here but I'm sure you'll have fun either way, with everything being so different from your time. But you will most likely get overwhelmed a few times and that's ok. I'm gonna so kagome to run down to the store to get you some earplugs just in case"
We go inside and I introduce her to Kagomes family. Luckily kagomes mom still had some clothes stored away that would fit Rin. After changing and helping Rin with her clothes, i left her to play with Sota so I could talk with Kagome's mother and grandpa.

"Ready Rinne Bear?" I smiled down at the girl as she held my hand.
As predicted, Rin did get overwhelmed the first night. After learning about television, and then seeing Mrs. Higurashi making dinner with the electrical appliances. She had a very bad headache by bedtime. Luckily she was feeling better by morning so I could take her to my home.
"Ready shi-kun!" She grinned, bouncing on her heels excitedly.
"Alright. Now remember if your head starts-"
"Yes. Yes. Shi-Kun!" She pouted, cutting me off "If my head starts hurting again, I'll tell you know and I'll put my earplugs in and you'll carry me. you told me two times already" She whined half-heartedly, though I know she liked my dotting on her.
"Ok I get it" I laugh and start walking while she skips beside me.
A/N: hope y'all are ready for some sad backstories and modern-world slice-of-life stuff cause the next chapter is gonna be LONG lol will probs post the next chapter next next week cause I'm gonna be busy starting tomorrow and I'm gonna be going out of town next week to see Hozier in concert andddd I don't wanna rush it so yeah.
