Small Town

Every day I see the same thing

gorgeous sunsets, early sunrises,

corn fields that keep getting bigger,

farms filled with big cows,

the town diamond

filled with the same old stores,

the archaic white-collar crimes on TV,

the same faces at the grocery store

buying food for their Sunday luncheon,

I'm waiting for the day I can leave this small town

but for now,

it's all I've ever known

and all I ever want to know.
