The Return

This paralyzing daze possesses my body,

these tears bruise the outside of my cheeks,

I am no longer controlling my body

and I find myself many miles from home

questioning how I got there

but before I can think of a single memory

I'm falling to the cold ground

I somehow know so well

and when I look up

I see a face

I carved into my skin years ago,

a friend nobody else could see but me

and all over again

I get to know the way their jagged skin

hangs off of their body

and all over again

they get to know how my scarred skin

hangs off of my body.
