Chapter 13: The Inevitable

Law's POV

"I'VE FALLEN FOR YOU LAW!"

When I heard the words out of Y/n's mouth, it felt like I was doused in cold water.

Of course, I cared for her. She saved my life when I was at death's door. But this was all new to me..

'She's fallen for me?' I probably had the stupidest thinking face, just as bad as Strawhat-ya, but I just didn't know how to react.

"Y/n-ya.. did you -"

"Yes, Law. I've fallen in love with you..." Silence filled the room as words seemed so hard to come out of my own mouth like my brain and my mouth still needed time to fully say what I truly felt.

"...you know what, forget everything I said. We'll talk tomorrow. Law, I need to be on my own for a bit." She got her keys and left. She never said goodbye, just a small "see ya later."

When the front door closed, insinuating Y/n-ya's departure, a slight creaking sound of a door was heard.

Bepo came in and peeked through the crack.

"Captain.. what happened?"

I sighed, knowing I needed to get Bepo caught up to the situation at hand because he is also living under the same roof as Y/n-ya and me.

~ A few moments later ~

"Then she left.." I explained as Bepo's eyes grew wide with stars in them.

"Does that mean you're going to make Miss Y/n part of our crew?" Bepo asked excitedly.

"Like I said, Bepo, she doesn't want to join us because of how dangerous it is in our world," I say, pinching my brows from the growing headache

"But captain, if that's the only thing she's worried about then... why not just make her yours somehow?"

Mine?

Make Y/n mine?

"Bepo.. she isn't an object that I can just have.. she's, she's Y/n. She helped us, and she fed us. She even opened up her home to us to be our home too... she's.. she's so much more... I- I can't even.."

It was as if my brain was thinking a million things at once when I finally realized

"I need to fix this somehow."

"Damn it," I mumble under my breath as I frantically look for Y/n

I finally look up to where the attic is and hear soft sobs

"Room... Shambles"

There she was.

She was sitting on the ground, her knees close to her as she hugged herself crying.

"Y/n-ya.."

She turned to me fast, being surprised I was even there with her as she basically locked herself up here, not letting the string dangle for the ladder to be pulled down.

"What do you want, Law?"

She said as she turned away from me

"Y/n-ya, I just want to talk. Please, let's talk." I begged as I slowly approached her

"You're being unfair." She said as she stood up, still facing away from me.

"I had no other choice... you basically locked yourself up here. I couldn't get in any other way."

"That was the point Law. I want to BE alone." She sounded frustrated, maybe even a little mad.

"All I want to know is.. if it's true... did you mean what you said?" I got closer to her holding her arm from behind.

"It doesn't matter if I did mean it. You're going to leave me anyway." She said as her voice hitched.

"Y/n-ya, please look at me."

"It's no use! You have to go back to the rest of your crew Law! All I'm doing is making the inevitable more painful for myself." She voiced as she finally looked at me with a hurt expression.

I didn't know what to say. So I let my body move on its own.

I hugged her tightly. Her head on my chest as she continued to sob one hand on her head, stroking it to calm her down and one on her back to steady her.

"I do want to go back to my crew at some point... but I want to be with YOU right now."

She pushed me away to look at me in the eyes, almost as if to question if I was saying the truth or not.

"I'll stay with you until you agree to come with me to my world, Y/n-ya."

She went back to hugging me, putting her face to my chest.

"You're impossible to understand sometimes, Law. You know I also have a life here. I can't just disappear with you when I have duties and responsibilities in this world."

She seemed to have calmed down from her crying, but I refused to let her out of my grasp.

"I know how much you don't like it here either, Y/n-ya. I see you come home every day. You always have that glum face. I the same one I made whenever Strawhat-ya didn't listen to my plans."

I heard her giggle a little bit till she pushed herself off my grasp.

She put a hand to my face as I leaned into it.

"Let's stay as we were before. Feelings aside. I still care for you, Law. I just want to keep you company for a little while longer."

"Y/n-ya, stay by my side. Stay with me. Be with me. Come home with me."

"We're both responsible adults, You have to tend to your crew, and I have a 9-5 job. Law, what you do, people may look down upon, but I know your heart is in the right place. Hell, you even helped Luffy save Wano which was run by Kaido for 20 years and Dressrosa which was ruled by Doflamingo for 10. All I want are our little moments to keep in my own heart as memories. No matter the gesture, I want our time together to be an everlasting good memory to keep me going. In my shitty job."

"You say that as if I'd let you stay. Y/n-ya. I'll persuade you I'll find a way. The people here don't understand how precious you are. How kind, gentle, beautiful, and loving."

I scrunched my face, not finding the words that I needed to say. "We can figure this out when you come with me."

"Law..."

(AN: This chapter bothered me so much... it will make more sense in the following chapters, though♡ things are about to get more complicated for the two...)
