No One's POV
As Law finished his meal in silence, the atmosphere in the room grew heavier. Y/n glanced at Law occasionally, sensing his discomfort but unsure how to address it. Bepo, noticing the tension, tried to lighten the mood with some cheerful chatter, but Law remained stoic, lost in his thoughts.
Y/n couldn't shake the feeling that things had turned awkward after their conversation in the attic. She wanted to bridge the gap between them. She loved how things were before that was why she inwardly hated herself for spilling the beans that she had feelings for him, but now she didn't know where to start.
"Law, is everything alright?" Y/n finally mustered the courage to break the silence clenching her spoon.
Law looked up, his expression unreadable. "I'm fine," he replied, his tone dismissive.
Y/n sighed inwardly, feeling a pang of frustration mixed with concern. "You don't seem fine. If something's bothering you, I'd like to know."
"It's nothing for you to worry about," Law retorted, pushing his plate away and standing up abruptly. "Excuse me."
He left the table, leaving Y/n and Bepo exchanging concerned glances. Y/n felt a knot form in her stomach, unsure of how to address the growing rift between her and Law.
this was exactly what she feared.
'Please, not like this Law...' she pleaded in her thoughts as she watched him walk off
"I'll go talk to him," Y/n said softly to Bepo, getting up from her seat and following Law.
She found Law in the living room, flipping through the pages of a manga with an unreadable expression. Y/n hesitated for a moment before approaching him.
"Law, please, talk to me," Y/n urged gently, standing a few feet away.
Law sighed, closing the manga and looking at her. "I don't know what to say. Things feel different now, after what you said in the attic."
"I understand if things are awkward. I didn't mean to make things complicated," Y/n apologized, her voice filled with sincerity.
"It's not just that," Law admitted, his gaze flickering away. "I thought I had a clear purpose here-to take you back with me. But now, everything feels uncertain, and to be honest Y/n-ya it bothers me."
Y/n nodded understandingly. "I know this is a lot to take in. I value our friendship, Law. And I promise to think seriously about your offer."
Law looked at her, a mix of emotions crossing his face. "I appreciate your honesty. I just need time to sort things out, too."
Y/n nodded, a sense of relief washing over her that they were finally communicating openly. "Take all the time you need. We'll figure things out together."
They shared a small, reassuring smile before Y/n excused herself, leaving Law to his thoughts.
Alone in the living room, Law leaned back, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. Maybe things didn't have to be as complicated as he initially thought. For now, he decided to immerse himself in the manga, allowing himself a moment of distraction and respite from the swirling mix of emotions within.
Y/n's POV
I felt the weight of the conversation settle in my chest as I returned to the kitchen, the silence between me and Law still hanging thick in the air. Bepo, noticing my expression, gave me a supportive pat on the shoulder, but I still couldn't shake off the unease.
"Miss Y/n, are you okay?" Bepo asked, concern evident in his voice.
I managed a faint smile. "I'm trying to be. It's just... it's tough, you know?"
Bepo nodded sympathetically. "I understand. It's never easy when things get complicated."
"Yeah," I sighed, mixing the soup in its bowl absentmindedly seeing the ripples of the waves caused by my stirring. "I just hope things will get better between us."
We sat in the kitchen for a while, the ambiance softened by the gentle hum of the appliances. My mind raced, contemplating the situation with Law. I couldn't help but replay their conversation in the attic, questioning if I made a mistake by being honest about my feelings.
Later that evening, I sat on the porch swing, gazing at the stars, lost in thought. The sound of a door opening and closing as footsteps got closer interrupted my thoughts, and I turned to see Law approaching slowly.
"Hey," I said softly, gesturing to the empty spot beside me.
Law hesitated for a moment before taking a seat. The silence lingered between them until I inevitably decided to break it.
"I-I'm sorry for making things awkward," I said, my voice laced with a tinge of regret. "I never intended for things to turn out like this."
Law looked at her, his expression softened. "It's not entirely your fault. I've been processing everything, and I might have reacted poorly... and a bit childishly as well."
I nodded with a small smile, understanding his perspective. "I just don't want our friendship to suffer because of this."
"I don't either," Law admitted, a hint of vulnerability in his voice. "But this situation... it's complicated."
I placed a hand over his own hand, offering reassurance. "I know. And I appreciate your honesty. We'll figure it out, okay? Together."
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Law's lips. "Yeah, together."
The two sat in companionable silence for a while, the tension easing gradually. As the tension lessened, I placed my head comfortably on his shoulder as he placed his on top of my head.
We'll figure it out.
I close my eyes, knowing things would get better. people did say there's light after a dark tunnel, right?
was it so bad for me to fall for a man that I potentially would have never met if it wasn't for the incident with Teach? was it bad that all I secretly wanted was to run away from my problems here and go to the world of One Piece like one of those stories online? Complex thoughts were always on my mind, but with Law, it just always seemed to sort of disappear.
Dr. Heart Stealer was not an understatement.
Eventually, as it got later, we both headed back inside, feeling a sense of relief in the small steps we had taken toward understanding each other.
As I settled into bed that night, she felt a mix of emotions-hope and uncertainty intertwined. I closed her eyes, wishing for clarity and resolution, hoping that our bond would withstand the complexities of the different worlds we both were from.
Tomorrow is going to be hell back at the office once again...
