Sanem paced the archive room for a bit before she finally redials Fabbri's number.
"Miss Sanem?"
"Yeah," she huffs in greeting and then frowns, "I thought we settled this. It's over and dealt with. I gave you a sample and the formula, why are you still calling me?"
"Ah, see, I'm afraid that it's not completely over yet. The formula that you gave me has a few errors."
"What kind of errors? That's not possible. I have been making it the same way using the same method for years. There's nothing wrong with it."
"I understand, but we tried replicating the perfume in the laboratory and it didn't give the same result. There has to have been a mistake in the formula you gave us. Either that or you did it on purpose because you're afraid of Can."
"What? Why would I give you the wrong formula? I think you should try making it again. Your people are obviously inept in following instructions."
"I have highly qualified chemists working for me. They have been doing this for years too and they have actual degrees. Your comment is not acceptable."
Sanem digs her teeth into her tongue.
"But I will oversee it this time."
Sanem stares at the wall. How nice of you...
"Back to the issue at hand, we have tried it multiple times and we keep getting the same result. I want you to come in and make this perfume in front of them so they can see how it's done."
"No. I'm not coming there. I'll write it all down again and send it to you."
"Miss Sanem, we are busy with serious business here. I am just as serious about bringing this perfume to light. We have a contract. That means, until I am satisfied, you will come here and you will help create this perfume. And if you don't keep your promise, don't expect me to keep mine. I will go to your boyfriend and I will tell him all the details of how he really got out."
Sanem closes her eyes and frowns. Damn this man to the pits... "Fine. Okay." She hears footsteps and quickly whispers, "One minute," before she turns and hides her phone behind her back just as Deren comes in.
"Ah! Sanem, I've been looking for you." She glances around. "What are you doing in here?"
"I..." Sanem swallows. "Uhm, nothing. I'm just...I'm checking the old Redmod campaign data like you wanted, I mean I can - "
"Okay, okay, enough," Deren huffs and waves her hands. "I don't actually care. Mrs Huma wants to see you."
Why? Sanem blinks in surprise. "Mrs Huma?"
"Yes."
"Okay, I'll be right there."
Deren eyes her strange stance with a raised brow and then turns around to walk out, apparently deciding it wasn't worth asking about.
Taking a deep breath, Sanem puts her phone back to her ear as soon as she is gone.
"Hello?"
"I'm still here."
"I'll come during lunch and give you the formula again."
"And you will demonstrate."
Sanem purses her lips. "Yes," she agrees quietly and then hangs up, her heart hammering in her chest. This was getting dangerous. If she wanted to keep Can in the dark, she would have to go. She didn't like it, she wanted nothing more to do with Fabbri but she had no choice.
