"Do any of you know why Miss Polen keeps coming back?" Ahmet whispers.
"I think the 'new' love is over," Dilara whispers. "Now he's gone back to the old one. Did you feel their energy?" She shivers.
"It looks like it yes."
Sanem puts her hand against her neck, standing by the wall as she tries to be inconspicuous about spying.
"I think they're going to leave together..."
"Why do you think he and Sanem broke up?"
"Mr Can can't keep up with all her moods, I think."
Sanem narrows her eyes, ignoring their whispering and jabs, keeping a close eye on Can and Polen instead. She was so close before. He had a reaction. We are not dead yet.
-
"Look, Can," Polen sighs, "I don't want to push you into anything."
Can grimaces, rolling his chair side to side as he listens to her try and persuade him to go to the Balkans.
"I don't know Polen. I can't really leave now, like I said. The agency's been through the wringer. I have to put things back in order before I can even think about going anywhere.""You can just tell them what to do from there can't you? And if you ask me, amidst all this stress, you need this. You have to think about yourself now."
"It sounds great," he ponders. He would love the opportunity to be alone somewhere he hasn't been to in a while. It might do him good.
She smiles. "I think so too."
He nods.
"Okay, so I have a suggestion, if you agree to it of course? Why don't we go together? You don't have to go through this alone. We can stay there for a while and when the time comes you can decide what to do. What do you say?"
Can chews the inside of his lips, looking away at the side door and back.
"Just think about it alright? Put yourself first for a change. Please?" Polen puts her hand on his and he looks at it.
"Okay," Can nods, taking his hand away discreetly. "I'll think about it. Thank you."
-
Sanem turns away seeing Polen put her hand on Can's, but not seeing him take his away.
Around her people were discussing her relationship - or now lack thereof - and inside his office, Can was being lured in by a stick insect.
"I can't do this anymore," she grinds out and picks up a piece of paper. "I want to twist and break something." She rips the paper and throws it on the desk angrily, glaring over her shoulder at Polen. She'd promised herself she would be the new Sanem who could handle anything but it was very hard.
"What's this?"
Sanem's head whips to the left and her eyes widen, her fists still clutching pieces of paper.
"What are you doing girl?" Huma asks, walking closer and looking at the ripped pieces of paper.
"Oh, those are former projects, Mrs Huma." JJ had come running from the other side where he and Yila were working on the Gypsy color scheme. He had been keeping an eye on Sanem though, and he was glad he did.
Huma turns to him and Sanem puts down the strangled papers in her hands behind her back, picking up more and ripping them much slower, eyeing JJ gratefully.
"They were no good and needed to be destroyed. The paper shredder broke so that's why Sanem is ripping it up."
"So that's your responsibility is it? Is that what Miss Sanem does? If something breaks she...?" Huma trails off for them to fill in the blanks.
