Can walks to his desk chair and sits down, looking at Polen taking her own seat across from him fleetingly. "I'm surprised to see you. I thought you'd be in London. When did you get here?"
"I had to come for work. I've actually been here for a week now."
Can nods as he listens, his eyes on his laptop. He wasn't about to create waves that could have stayed.
"I was passing through and I thought, 'why not come say to Can and see what he's up to'?" Polen chuckles, crossing one leg over the other and leaning her elbow on his desk.
"Cool." He clears his throat. "We're busy with a few projects, as you can see." She nods, glancing at the multitude of files around him. "What else have you been up to?"
"You know me."
He nods again, his fist pressed in front of his mouth. He was interested as her friend and at the same time he really didn't care too much.
"I like a quiet life."
"No change there then," he smiles and she shrugs. He refocuses on his work while they chat, feeling somewhat like he was in a fishbowl - there was no ignoring the eyes peeking over the wall at them curiously. He looks at the door and then calls out to the first person passing. "Yila?"
She stops and comes back to the door. "Yes Mr Can?"
"Will you bring me tea please?" He looks at Polen. "Coffee?" Obviously JJ was too busy to bring this to them. I mean, I did ask before coming in didn't I?
"Yes please."
-
"Why did this woman come back?" Sanem whispers, glaring past JJ's head as she played with the edges of the sample box.
"She's looking for adventure," JJ nods to himself. "She lacks action."
Guliz, with her face scrunched up in confusion, turns to him and shrugs. "What? Where do you get that from?"
"One stays young because of adrenaline and excitement...or that's how I see it anyway."
"Some people might stay young but because of all this stress I'm going to die before I turn 30," Sanem huffs.
"Bah! Don't say that!" JJ snaps, doing a cross over her and knocking on the desk. "No one is dying."
"What do you think she's saying?"
"Hm, let me see," JJ squints. "I can't read her lips because she's not turned to us."
Whatever it is can't be too interesting, he's not even looking at her...Good man Can! "Look at him, my boyfriend is keeping her at a distance," Sanem says proudly. "I don't think we need to look anymore," Sanem pulls JJ back. As she does, she sneezes again and shakes her head, wincing.
"Maybe you need some tea too," JJ suggests, looking at Yila going into Can's office with a tray.
"All I need is for her to leave already."
"She will, she will, calm down."
-
"Thank you," Can nods at Yila when she puts down his tea.
"Yes thank you," Polen smiles and throws her hair over her shoulder as Yila leaves again. "Where was I?" she blinks. "Oh yes! I went to the opera. I saw 'The Queen of Spades'. It was amazing."
"Tchaikovsky?" Can looks at her from typing on his phone, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. "I love Tchaikovsky."
"I know."
