Leyla already has a cup of coffee in front of her when Emre enters the cafe and he lifts a hand to acknowledge he saw her waving.
"What is going on Mr Emre?" Leyla asks as soon as he sits down.
"I went to see Fabbri yesterday." Leyla nods and Emre watches her closely before he says what he says next. "I saw Sanem coming out of his office building Leyla." Leyla looks down at her lap silently. "I'm going to ask you this once," he keeps his eyes on her, "did Sanem give her perfume to Fabbri?"
Leyla finally looks up. There was no lie in her eyes when she answers and his heart sank. "Yes."
"Why?" he asks.
"She did it for Can."
Fuck! Emre clenches his jaw and looks out the window, shaking his head.
"She wanted to save him from going to jail."
Emre looks back at her. "I understand her motives, I do, but why didn't you tell me as soon as you found out?"
"It wasn't my place to do that." Leyla frowns. "Look, Mr Emre, Sanem is already very upset. If I had told you, you might have let something slip and she wants to be the one to tell Mr Can everything."
"She can't tell him," Emre says sternly. "If Can finds out about this he's going to be crushed." Leyla nods, letting him know that she was aware of it. "And..." he trails off and sighs. "He's going to propose to her today."
"What?!" Leyla gasps in surprise. She starts to smile and then stops, the reality of the situation hitting her. "Oh my God...I can't believe this..."
"If he finds out she gave her perfume to Fabbri he's not going to take it well. He trusts her more than anything or anyone right now. This is not a good scenario Leyla."
"What should we do?"
"First, call Sanem and tell her not to say anything."
"Okay," Leyla nods and digs out her phone, dialling Sanem right there. She waits a minute then groans. "It's off. I'll text her." She starts typing after he nods, looking out the window worriedly and hoping they wouldn't be too late. "There. Done."
They sit and wait for a couple of minutes then Emre tells her to call again, feeling restless.
Leyla redials then shakes her head. "It's still off. And the message is still unread too. Sanem always turns off her phone when she goes to bed," she huffs, "she must have forgotten to switch it back on."
"Maybe I should try calling Can?" Emre asks and she shrugs. It was worth a shot. "What do I say though?"
"Tell him that I have to get in touch with Sanem urgently."
"Won't that make him suspicious?"
"Tell him it's about our parents."
"Good idea!" he snaps his fingers and takes out his phone, scrolling to Can's name and putting it to his ear.
"The number you have dialled is unavail - "
"Damn it!" he grunts before the voice can finish. "Off too. I hate it when he does this."
"What do we do now?"
"What do we do?" He mutters, tapping the side of his phone in thought. "What do we do?"
We'll have to go there and stop it in person, it's the only way right now. Can's going to be pissed the hell off but it's better than him finding out the truth... "Get up.""Why?"
"We're going to Can's cabin. We have to stop them. Catch up before Sanem talks to him. I'll call a taxi. You pay for the coffee and meet me outside." He hands her a note and then starts dialling on his way to the door.
