"I went back and forth how many times, and did he help me? No, not Nihat Aydin," Mevkhibe scoffs and shakes her head, lining up the bottles of oil on the kitchen table, counting them before looking up at Sanem standing on the other side watching her unpack. "Look at this colour, isn't it just pure and golden? It's all lovely to look at and good for you, but does your father see it my way? Bah!" She clicks her tongue.
"Mom, you have to understand, he's been running the store for a long time. He has his own way of doing things. Maybe he just thinks it's not appropriate?"
"No, he is stubborn. Stubborn Nihat Aydin. He has to argue with me about everything. He's not happy otherwise. He knows how I get if I'm attacked, so it always ends in a shouting match."
"Right," Sanem nods. She was just glad they weren't avoiding or ignoring each other again. She and Leyla just got them back together.
"Go and help your friend honey, we can talk later."
Sanem had almost forgotten why she came into the kitchen in the first place. "Don't worry mom, okay? I really like the way the eggs look." She turns quickly and runs out.
"Yes, at home, but not in the store," Mevkhibe huffs as Sanem grabs her shoes by the door and her jacket.
As she steps out, now thankfully dressed in jeans and a Tshirt with sneakers - her feet were killing her from walking in heeled boots all morning - Leyla comes across the street.
"You're early." Sanem winces, digging her heel in a litte more, shifting it.
"I couldn't take the atmosphere anymore. Besides, there isn't much to do at the agency right now." Sanem nods. "What about you? What did you do today after you left? Is Mr Can okay?"
"He was really bad for a while. It took some time for him to calm down. He's better but I'm still worried." Sanem frowns. "Emre was right about Can."
"How so? What do you mean?"
"He's been saying that Can would leave everything behind if he ever found out the truth." Leyla nods. "He told me today that he didn't want to be here anymore and that I'm the only thing keeping him here."
Leyla grimaces and hisses a breath in through her teeth. "Ouch. Really?" Sanem nods and looks away. "You didn't say anything did you? I mean how could you after that?"
"Of course not."
Leyla pouts and shakes her head. She chews her lip for a bit and then looks at Sanem who was worrying her own lip. "Mr Can was very upset when he left the office."
"Miss Deren must be just as bad. She was devastated when he told her she was fired."
"I can only imagine."
"But I don't understand how someone like her could trust Aylin."
"That woman is shameless in who she uses."
"What's more, I can't believe Emre trusts her and is in a relationship with her...I wonder if he'll stay in it after all of this? If he does he's very stupid."
Leyla leans forward. "There's nothing between them. It's all a lie."
"What?" Sanem gasps, her eyes wide.
"Okay, you have to tell me everything right now." Sanem grabs Leyla's hand and pulls her into the house. "How did you find out?""Emre told me."
"So she just lied openly?"
"She was trying to make me think they're together again and I believed her. She was so sincere about it. Like she believed every word she said."
