The Decembers

Chapter 13

    Round one was going to begin. The first competitor was Kane. He was very cocky and already bragging to everyone that he was going to win this whole thing. Paisley and I did not say a word and just let him do all the talking. Her and I really did not care for people like that. He chose a crossbow for his choice. Each competitor had three chances to shoot and therefore the numbers were all going to add up in the end to see who has the higher score.

    The dart board had four circles. Each circle represents points. The outside circle starts off with ten points and ends with the inner circle that is worth 40 points. He shot his first bow and it landed on the 30 points. So far, he was starting off good. His seconded shot landed on the 40 points. Kane just seem to keep getting better. He was now on his last shot. He was determined to land in the middle again for that 40 point. Kane shot his last arrow and got the 40 point like the way he wanted. All together he receives a total of 110 points.

    Marco was next, he looks like he was Cyrus age. He chose a bow arrow for his choice. The competitors had two choices. It was either the bow arrow or the cross bow. I wouldn't mind having Marco as our protector. He seemed like a very decent person. I was hoping he would do a better job than Kane.

    His first shot was not so much a good one. He landed on the 20 points. Maybe he was just too nervous or just getting warm up. Marco shot the arrow again, but this time landed on a 10 point. The competitors just laugh at him except for Avery. She was encouraging him. He was now on his last chance. Hopefully, he could land on 40 points. He wipes the sweat from his forehead. Marco aimed one last time and he did it. He landed on the 40 points, but at the end it was not enough points. His total was 70 points.

    Up next was Lu, you can tell she had a determined face to beat all the competitors in this round. She came up to me and Paisley and bowed. There was no need for her to do that, but I fully respected her for that. Lu chooses the bow arrow as well for her weapon. She was ready to begin. Frothy points are what she receives on her first try. Kane face was now in scared mode.

    Lu was quick to show off her skills. She didn't even hesitate between the rounds. I think she wanted to stand out from the rest of the competitors. On the second round she got 40 points as well but because she was going to quick with her rounds that on her last one, she got 20 which gave her 100 points altogether. At the end that puts her in second place behind Kane.

    Kane was still very much happy that he was in the lead. It was now Stage turn and his choice of weapon was the crossbow. He was an older man that look like he could be in his late 40s. That must mean he has more experience than everyone else who is competing. He shot his first bow and got 30 points. As for his second shot he receives 30 points again. This was not looking to well for Marco who was in last place to everyone else. On Stage last try, he once again receives 30 points. His total was 90 points.

    Finally, was Avery turn. The other competitors didn't see her as threat because of her age and how young she was. She grabbed a bow arrow and shot her first arrow. She landed on the 40 points. You can tell she was teaching them a lesson on not to judge by just looks and age. For the second round she asks Pierce if she can change her weapon. Everyone look at him to see what he was going to say.

    "I suppose you can, there's no rules against using different weapons in each round."

    She changes her weapon to the cross bow for the second round. She took a deep breath and shot the bow and once again got 40 points. Avery now was making the competitors worry, but now her 80 points kicks Marco out of the competition. On her last round she pulled out a small knife and ask if she can use that for her last round. This time she was asking me and Paisley. I was the one to speak up and tell her that she could use it and with that said she threw that knife right in the middle of the dart and was the first one out of the competitors to gain all 40 points. She beat Kane out of first place and gain 120 points.

    Marco left and everyone else stayed but not before Avery told him not to give up on his skill practicing. It was now time for round two. We moved on to the next room with the ring in it. Pierce told the competitors that Kane and Stage were going to go head-to-head with each other. After them, Avery and Lu were going to go next in the ring. Watching the last round was amazing to watch but now watching two people fight each other was a huge step up.

    Round two was different, instead of fighting and then stopping to get some rest time, you must basically fight until you give up. There were no small breaks for round two. Kane and Stage was up first. Kane was younger than Stage, but Stage had more muscle than Kane but looks do not matter. It's all about the strength and how far you're willing to go.

    Kane and Stage enter the ring. The rest of us stood outside of it. There were guards who as well was going to watch them fight. A small audience was forming. Pierce was taking charge of this round as well. "When I count to three you two will began, but first we must go over the rules. There are no weapons. There is no stepping out of the ring and lastly, when the person you are fighting taps out, you must step away from them but, if you are still throwing punches, you will be disqualified. Now with that said I will began counting."

    Everyone in the room began counting with Pierce, even me and Paisley join in with the countdown. "One, two, Three." After everyone said the number three, Kane charge at Stage. He charges at him fast enough to knock him down on his back. Soon as you know it Kane was on top of Stage on the floor.

    Kane was throwing so many punches at Stage that it was hard to see either of their faces. Then suddenly Stage grabbed Kane fist and punch him in his face and threw him off him. He then gets up right away and kicks Kane in his stomach. By just kicking him in the stomach, he knocks the air out of him. Blood was starting to get everywhere in the ring. They both were bleeding a little. As Stage was about to kick Kane in the stomach again, Kane grabbed his left foot and yank it. He yanks Stage foot that he hits his head on the floor so hard that he got knock out. Everyone look at Stage to see if he was going to wake up. He didn't make a single noise. Pierce step in the ring and grabbed Kane right arm and threw it in the air. "Kane is the winner of this match."

    Everyone roars with excitement. Kane was going to move on to round three with the obstacle course. People step in to grabbed Stage and help him get out of the ring. Little by little reality was kicking in for him. With Stage leaving the ring, everyone knew what was going to happen next. It was now Lu and Avery turn. Their bodies seem to be equal. They both look like they weigh the same. Lu happens to be a little older than Avery but besides that, this was going to be a fair match.

    Everyone else was going to do the countdown again. I wanted Avery to move on to the next round. In fact, I wanted her to win the whole thing. The way she was encouraging Marco while everyone else was laughing at him, says a lot about her. You can tell she was a team player. Pierce started counting and everyone else followed. I didn't count this time with everyone. I could not look away from Lu and Avery. Lu tries charging at Avery, but she moved out of the way. Once again Lu tries charging at her, but she moved again. You can tell Avery was getting on her nerves.

    "Come on little girl, stop fooling around and fight me."

    "Who says I'm fooling around."

    Even though they have not touch each other yet. This fight already seemed more interesting. Lu stops charging at Avery and decided to walk up to her instead. Lu then decided to throw a punch at Avery, but she ducks. Then I just realized, Avery was trying to get Lu tired by wasting her energy.

    It seems like her plan was working. You can tell Lu was getting tired and without Lu or anyone expecting it, Avery threw a punch at her. She then grabbed Lu left arm and threw her over her shoulder. Lu landed on the floor with Avery foot on her neck holding her down while also holding Lu right arm with both her hands. Avery asks Lu if she gives up. Lu replied no, so Avery twisted her arm and ask her again while her foot is still holding her neck down. Lu looks up to her with a pain expression. Her face was getting more and more redder.

    "Fine, I give up."

    Pierce did the same thing with Avery and step in the ring and grabbed her right arm and raised it up. Everyone roars with excitement. It was now Avery and Kane that was going to move on to the next and final round. They were both going to face the obstacle course. Now it all depends who will go farthest on the course.
