-Paisley-
I was shaking but trying to hold myself together at the same time. I felt like my anxiety was kicking in. The scary part about this whole thing is not knowing if the rumors are real. I know I told myself that it is probably not true but the thing about rumors is some of them can be true. I just kept telling myself everything will be alright.
The farther we kept walking into the forest the foggier it became. I could not even see my feet because the fog was covering the whole ground. We had to be very careful with how we were walking. None of us wanted to get our foot stuck in anything. I was just hoping that the fog would stay below our waist.
Maybe we should have taken the other way, instead of going through the forest, but Iris only did give us 24 hours, and this was a short cut as well. I kept thinking about Night Kingdom and how my brother and I were born in it. Maybe West and I can visit our home. Even though it was probably our home for just a day or two, but still it was a place that my parents lived together. Maybe, the house has been untouched, and we can get something from there that belong to our parents. What am I saying, there is no way they kept something from our parents? They must have burn everything.
As, we kept walking the fog kept raising from the ground. It was now up to our waist. I can tell from ahead of us that the fog was just going to get much worst. Avery told us that we should stick closer to one another. She didn't want none of us to get separate and getting lost in the forest.
Suddenly the fog was all around us and I barley could see Avery or West. I started calling out their names, but somehow their voices seem like it was distance away. How could their voices sound far, they were just right next to me? I was starting to panic. I tried to calm myself down. Panicking was not going to help with anything.
I just needed to get to Avery and West. I tried looking through the fog to see if I saw anything. Out of nowhere big red eyes appear. I feel like their looking straight into my soul. Those eyes did not belong to West or Avery, those belong to some short of creature. The rumors are true.
The eyes were getting closer and closer to me. I scream out Avery and West names again and still no answer. Why can't they hear me? I needed to find them and get the heck out of this forest. I pulled out my sword from my scabbard. I was ready to fight for my life.
Suddenly the red eyes jump at me, and I can now see the creature clearly. It was a giant huge rat with sharp teeth. It was not like any ordinary rat; this one was like the size of a baby elephant. There was drool coming out of its mouth. He looks hungry and I was about be its lunch.
It came after me. I started running and drop the bag that had our blankets in it. I didn't need to carry a heavy bag, it would just made me slower and give the ugly creature an advantage, but even with me dropping it, the rat was still fast. I decided to stop running and fight the rat with my sword. If I kept on running, I was just going to get tired, and the animal would have catch up to me. I would have been low on energy. I made the decision to face it.
I was now face to face with the disgusting looking rat. It smiled at me, thinking that he was going to devour me. There was no way in hell, I was going to let this thing eat me. It came closer to me. I needed to think of a plan and quickly. Then I had a thought. It is an animal, so it senses fear. I'm going to pretend to fall backwards, that way he thinks he has a chance to attack me but what he won't know is that once I hit the ground, I'm going to face my sword towards him, hoping that he jumps right into my sword.
I fell backwards pretending that I was more frighten than ever. Truthfully, I had no idea if this plan was going to work. When I fell, everything seems like it was in slow motion. I saw the rat jumping at me while I was falling at the same time. I look over at my right hand that I was holding the sword with. I pulled it in front of me so that way the rat would be easier to stab when its coming towards my way.
