"Thank you for your time," Mr Saidi Snr. stood, shaking hands with the men across the boardroom table.
Omari stood as well, doing the same and then heading out the office building with his father alongside the businessmen they had a meeting with.
"That was interesting," Omari scoffed.
"Yeah, I'll be keeping them at an arm's length. You should too," Mr Saidi grunted.
"Sure thing. Listen, I have to go to Russells now. I have a meeting there as well and I need to finalise stuff before I head out," Omari informed."Head out to where?" His father scowled at him. "See, ever since you got to Russells you've been out and about and not settled, Omari. Its not right, find a place to settle and stay there."
Omari knew what his dad meant. He actually enjoyed traveling and working at Russells was the perfect job for him. He had been traveling since his first paycheck, working remotely on most days and spending the rest having a good time.
He knew his parents did not subscribe to such a lifestyle but he honestly could care less what they thought. He was involved in the family affairs so that's what he knew was his contribution to his family.
"I understand, dad, I really do. But you and I both know how I have always wanted to travel and not be stuck in one place. Russells is my big break. So my being here is in no ways my way of saying I'm settling, we've talked about this," Omari explained.
"Saidi..." his father shook his head, "Alright. You're grown now, but I will tell you this, you are the direct heir to all I own. I don't want it to end with you, I've always said this. So do what you may with that information, Omari Hussein Saidi."
"Dad, its a business trip."
His father shook his head and turn back to the boardroom. "I have said my piece."
Omari headed over to Russells Headquarters, greeting his colleagues and a few superiors.
"Good to see you man, its been a minute," one said.
"Yeah well I'm just passing by to have a few briefings," Omari replied with a grin.
"Oh you're going for the Investor Summit thing, huh?"
"Yeah. Let me get to it," Omari said, making his way to one of his meetings.Omari always wanted to be a recognized man in an industry such as finance- he wanted to be recognized period. And not the kind of recognition that came with being associated with his family's business or their wealth, he wanted his own. And so this was huge for Omari because not only would he be networking with business minds, he would be in a hub of investment opportunities. He hoped that with his experience, he would move on to either a senior position or find another company to work for that would allow him to rank up the corporate ladder.
Once the meeting was through, he got a call from Malik that there was an event happening that evening. He was definitely down for it, he had something to celebrate after all.
Evening came and it was lively. The event was at a restaurant and had women gyrating, men drinking and loud music blasting through the place.
"What did you set us up for man?" Omari shook his head, sitting down next to Malik with the view of all the activity happening infront of them.
"I had a meeting with one of my homeboys so I had to pull through to support afterwards," Malik explained.
"Luca and Zion are on their way."
"Aight. Sean isn't coming?"
"Nah. I thought he told you he had to travel?" Malik said with a confused look.
"He didn't, but its cool man. I'll be traveling myself," Omari explained."Oh word?"
"Yeah, in a few days," Omari replied, noticing Zion and Luca approaching their booth.
"Ayy, wassup," he stretched out a hand, dapping them up.
