A/N  This is my first time writing fanfic. Terribly sorry if this is bad. Also, I need a name for this story and I can't think of anything.

Percy POV:

And for the first time in forever, I had no nightmares, no dreams. Just a peaceful, calm sleep.

Which probably meant that something bad was about to happen, but a guy can hope. Right.

Anyway, I was probably being too hopeful because that same day, a really stormy day, I decided to take a walk along the beach near where we were staying in California. No one else was on the beach with me except for a few random people weird enough to be out in this weather.

I kicked the sand and fiddled with Riptide. My body was taut, ready for any threat. A kid laughed in the distance and my hand twitched towards the cap of Riptide. I clenched my jaw and took a deep breath. It was just a kid laughing.

Annabeth says I- we- have PTSD. I still don't know what that is. I sighed and turned towards the water. My feet carried me forward until I was waist-deep in water. Sensing a drop-off I dove down and sank until I could sit criss-cross. I struggled to open my mouth and breathe.

I didn't want to take a deep breath. I wanted to hold all my air in until I couldn't breathe again and then go up to the surface. My heart started to pound. Memories resurfaced. I grabbed my hair, trying to forget.

I took a deep breath in. The water was murky and smelt terrible. Like the Hudson River before the sand dollar. Nasty.

A water nereid floats by and giggles. As she swims by, something falls from her hand and floats to the bottom. I push my hand through the water and then pull them back, sending me shooting forward to where the nereid dropped whatever it was.

All I could see was a chain, attached to something blue. Tenderly, I picked the chain up and laughed. Ooh, how Annabeth would love this. It was a beautiful clear crystal tied to a chain. The crystal seemed to glow.

Smiling, I pocketed it and turned to start swimming towards shore.

Just then, something hissed. From right behind me. I uncapped Riptide. Snarling, I turned around and flinched. I sooo wanted to be done with monsters. This had to be a joke. I could already hear the fates laughing. Haha! You fell for it again Perseus Jackson

It was like an ongoing joke with them.

But this monster was ugly. It was like those no-neck substitutes for math you get every once in a while. It had a pig/mole nose and scales, fins, and tails like fish. It had arms like a t-rex with hands/flipper-like things.

It was disgusting.

I remember Annabeth telling me about a creature like this. It was called a Cetus. In Greek Mythology apparently, both Perseus and Heracles needed to slay. The Cetus was now a constellation it was that important.

It hissed at me.

It sniffed at the water and looked me dead in the eye before swatting me away with its flipper-like hands. I tumbled through the water and hissed in pain. Apparently, its flippers had claws. Before I got a chance to look at what damage was done, the Cetus charged at me.

"Oh crap," I breathed. I felt a familiar pull in my stomach and I shot forward while willing the water to push me towards the ugly substitute-looking monster. My foot shot out and slammed it into the nose sending both of us tumbling through the water.

Looking at my surroundings, I got a plan. I shot forward as fast as I could with the help of the water straight towards a large archway. The Cetus was right on my tail.

But I didn't realize how close it was. Its teeth enclosed my leg. I turned and slashed at it with Riptide. The monster let out a bellowing roar and its dust blood seeped through thou water.

"Hey no- kneck!" I yelled trying to get its attention. "You want some yummy demi-god meat? Follow me!" I threw a dead fish that was floating in the water at it.

I raised Riptide about to kill it with its momentary distraction but hesitated. I didn't want to kill it. Something in my head was stopping me from doing so. I realized that I was afraid

It chomped the fish up looked at me and growled. I smirked and waved Riptide at it. Its eyes followed the sword's movements. This was just like Annabeth, the red ball, and Cerberus.

I turned and chucked riptide. The monster's tongue lagged out of its mouth as it chased the ball. Maybe that would give me enough time to get out of the water. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the pendant I had found floating around in the water. I wrapped my hand around the crystal just as light seeped through the clouds. It kinda looked like something that belonged in a place for elves.

And--

Crap, the Cetus was back. I reached out to punch it and as soon as I touched it, a light encased me and the ugly Cetus.

And the next thing I know is that I'm falling through the air in a completely sunny and majestical place.

I hit the ground. Why was the ground soft and squishy and warm? Why was it moving?

The ground below me groaned.

Oh, wait. I landed on someone.
