As soon as Keres flung me into a pile of poop that was created by some unidentified animal, I was pissed. She could have flung me anywhere. ANYWHERE. But no... she had to fling me into dung.
"Gods!" I sat up and flicked the poop of my hands. Fortunately for me, It didn't get on my face, just the back of my entire body and hands. Unfortunately, poop was a solid, and that was not something I could control. So I was stuck being stinky for the time being.
Annabeth won't kiss me for a while now. I sighed in distress. What was I supposed to do if I can't kiss Annabeth.
That's when I noticed the creature staring at me. Well, staring at me if it had eyes. But in place of it's eyes were black, hollow holes. I wanted to shriek like a little girl. My eye twitched. We stared at each other, it grinning and me wanting to die from it's creepiness.
Suddenly, it's eyes popped back into place. It has the face and body shape of a woman, scales like a lizard, feet like hooves of a horse, and hands like the paws of a giant lioness. And teeth like a piranha. I had a faint memory pop to the surface of my brain of this woman-thing.
"Lamia."
Her smile was venomous and bone chilling and her sharp teeth making it even more so. "Hello."
I stood from the poop and went to uncap Riptide, only to find it gone. I cursed. Lamia was a child eating monster. Annabeth had told me her story, which included Zeus and Hera, and that Zeus had turned her into the monster she was now. But was she really a monster for grieving for her children. maybe. She might have been doing the the complete wrong way, so Hera was the only real monster in this story. And Zeus, of course, for cheating on his wife.
"If you'll excuse me. I must leave," I said, as I slowly backed away. Her unnerving smile never left her face.
Lamia's laugh sounded like a scary movie I watched a while ago with my mom. The one with a doll called Chucky. She sniffed the air. "Even covered in poop, I can smell my friend Momo's death on your hands. I can smell your blood. And you smell delicious."
Well, that's a little Jeffery Dahmer-ish.
She sprang without a warning. I ducked out of the way. her paw caught my face, scratching me cheek. I could feel the blood dripping already.
"At least you didn't tear through the skin," I remarked. If possible, her smile grew larger, if possible. Lamia cackled.
"At least." Lamia brought her bloodied claw to her mouth and licked it. I was disgusted. She just ate my blood!
"Grosssssssss," My nose curled in growing repugnance. She lept at me again, chuckled the whole time. I dodged again, this time thrusting my sword out so I could catch her in the side. It didn't slow Lamia down though, because she attacked again.
I had a sudden thought. It was an idea, and I might die because of it, but who cares? "I'm sorry."
"For what?" Lamia snarled, her grin never unwavering.
"Your kids," I said. I dodged another attack, this time catching her paw with my blade. Lamia howled in pain. I could still smell the poop on my back and hands.
"YOU DARE SPEAK OF MY CHILDREN? YOU DARE SPEAK OF HERA IN FRONT OF ME WHEN YOU ARE NOTHING BUT HER LAP DOG?" She screeched, her grin finally falling off of her face. Her snarl was even worse than her creepy grin.
"I am not her lap dog, first of all," I snapped. "Second of all.... um.... I do dare do both those things. I know that Hera is unkind, I know she can be a monster, I know she can be selfish. She has put me through painful things to. I am a demigod, and I have to do what she asks or I die. Hera took my memory away. I know that's not as bad as her killing your kids but... still. She's done things to me to."
"I'm going to kill you," she growled. I cursed again. This time, when she charged me, I was ready for it. I held my sword straight out at her and ran towards her too. She leaped, I did a weird back bendy thing, and stabbed her straight through her heart and she turned to dust bunnies over me.
I stood and shook my head, watching the dust fall like dandruff on a very gross person.
Then i noticed how the hill on which the house was perched on was glowing red. In a panick I started to run to Annabeth, praying to every god and goddess out there that she was okay. i told her I would leave her again and I did. Even though it was less than ten minutes, I still left her.
A bolt of red lightning came streaking at me. Immediately, I turned and stared runnning the other way, but not before it hit me. It felt like a shock of static electricity. But there was something about it that didn't feel right. My head started to grow dizzy. I threw up. Something was wrong. Something bad must've happened when it hit me because the next thing I know, is that I fainted.
Heroically.
