Chapter 32

Keefe pressed a kiss to Sophie's lips. Fitz scowled a little bit. 

"Hey Blondie," smirked Keefe warmly. He tossed his arm over her should casually, falling into step beside her as the group walked through the market. Sophie couldn't wait to show Keefe the golden coin she had found, the one that had made her have an odd sense of deja vu. 

She could count how many times she had wanted to ask Keefe about the stage people she sees glimpses of in her memory, but couldn't. Not that she didn't want to tell him, but because something was physically stopping her from asking. It felt as though hands wrapped around her neck and squeezed, stopping her from talking- breathing. 

But tonight, she was going to ask. If her body would let her.

"Where are we going today?" She asked warmly, pushing the thoughts to the back of her mind so she could visit them late. As of right now, Keefe was treating her to a date.

"Oh you know, to watch a movie," he replied calmly, leading them away from Fitz who was turning red with annoyance- or maybe anger.

A movie? But those- Keefe pressed a finger to her forehead, right between her forehead and gave it a quick tap.

"You look confused," he smirked. "Allow me to show you, m'lady." He cheekily bowed down to held his hand to her. When Sophie didn't react fast enough, Keefe swooped her off her feet.

"Keefe!" She giggled. Sophie loved how her life was, no Neverseen, no wars. Mind you, there certainly was drama still, and strict parents, and school. Not that Sophie minded- she finally almost felt like a normal teen elf. She loved it. "Did you talk to my parents beforehand?" She questioned.

The mischievous boy quirked an eyebrow at her. "I may act dumb, but I promise you, Foster, I am actually quite smart."

Sophie laughed. "Sooo... where are we going for our date?"

"Just to the Forbidden Cities."

The words took Sophie a moment to process.

She shoved herself out of Keefe's arms. "WHAT?!"

After a few minutes of trying to convince her, Keefe had finally succeeded in getting his girlfriend to come to the Forbidden Cities with him. After all, Bronte had from some reason convinced the rest of the council to allow them to have the crystal that let them go there. Keefe still couldn't understand why.

But they were currently watching a human movie called Avengers: Endgame. It was being played only because no other movies had been made as of late so they needed movies to play, which is what Sophie explained to him.

He didn't care that ot was older movie. It was good. Sophie had explained the Marvel movies to Keefe before arriving at the theater. He thought the were very complex, and confusing, so he lightly joked that she would have to bring him here again to watch the first Marvel movie.

When the movie was over they stayed to watch the credits and the little ending scene at the end. Keefe loved it.

Sophie smiled warmly at her boyfriend. She would have to introduce him to the movie Captain America.

She was about to kiss him on the cheek when something caught her eye. Her head throbbed, an image flashing through her mind: green eyes, black hair, blonde hair, gray eyes. Those people walking away were the spitting image of those she kept seeing in her dreams.

"Soph?" Keefe's worried voice broke through her headache.

"We need to follow them," She announced last. Without waiting for his answer, she pushed out of his hold and followed them, not thinking of any consequences.

She heard Keefe's light footsteps from behind her, his presence a comfort she would always need.

When she rounded the corner of the alleyway, they were gone, or so she thought, until cold, sharp metal pressed against her neck. And Keefe, was being held against the wall by a tall young man.

"Sophie?" Said the girl whose dagger was pressed against her neck.
