As the group walked to Everglen, Lynn, and Keefe explained what Base Quest was.

"So like capture the flag?" Percy asked. "But with 'bases'?"

"And hide-and-seek," Sophie supplied. If Percy wasn't human, then how in the world did he know what capture the flag is?

"Okay, so who are the teams?" Percy asked.

"Girls against boys, obviously," said Lihn.

"But there's only two of us and three of you!" Keefe complained. He groaned and mimed a faint while landing on Sophie's shoulder. Sophie blushed and shoved him away. But not before she brushed a hand down his arm.

After a very long walk, the five ended up right in front of the gates to Everglen. The property was as stunning as ever, Sophie couldn't help but drink the whole artwork up like a person stranded in a desert.

"Wow," she heard Percy breathe out in amazement. "All of you are---" Percy froze. "I like this house."

"Yeah," Biana said with pride, "it's my house."

She laughed. Percy nodded his head at her.

Once Biana led the group inside, she yelled, "FITZ! GET DOWN HERE!"

"HOMEWORK!" That was the answer. Biana gave Lihn a look that Sophie couldn't understand. Had they created a language without her? But then again, Sophie had kept a lot from them too during the war with the Neverseen. Sophie shuddered. She tried to block out the thought of the war at all times.

"You okay?" Keefe asked, fanning the air in front of him.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"You sure? You've got the little crinkle in between your eyebrows. I wish I could understand what's going on with you," Keefe stated and grabbed her hand. His words gave Sophie an idea.

"What are Percy's emotions? What is he feeling?" she asked. The older boy was currently scanning the area as if looking for threats, yet he remained amazed at the inside of Everglen.

"He's apprehensive. And he's amazed, he's missing some...thing, and... I don't know Sophie. It's really hard to read him. I don't know what it is, but it's givin' me a headache. Let's talk about this later," he whispered, "and focus on me winning this game of base quest in the near future."

Keefe winked and Sophie scowled. He leaned in and pecked her on the cheek and Sophie heard someone groan.

Sophie glanced at the staircase to find an angry-looking Fitz staring at the two of them.

"Could you keep the love-dovey-ness to a maximum of zero? Please?" Fitz scowled unhappily and then let his eyes wander to Percy. When he landed at the bottom of the staircase, he seemed to size Percy up with narrowed eyes. The green-eyed boy's only response was to raise an eyebrow and smirk. "Who're you?"

"Percy," he answered. "And you are...?"

"You mean to say you don't know me?" Fitz squinted his eyes at Percy and took a hesitant step closer.

"Not everybody will know you Wonder Boy," laughed Keefe. He wrapped a teasing arm around Sophie's shoulders. She knew he was just trying to provoke a reaction from Fitz Fitz and as far as she could tell, it was working.

"What do you want, Biana?" He snarled.

"We're playing base-quest and we need another boy since it's boys versus girls. So you are playing. Whether you like it or not," Biana flipped her hair and smiled happily. "So let's go."

Fitz grumbled. Like many of the team members, Fitz had just finished healing. Sort of. He still walked with a limp after his leg had gotten re-injured in a fight against the Neverseen.

After glancing at Percy suspiciously for another long moment, he agreed to play with them, after complaining about how 'he was too old for this game'. Keefe replied with 'Well, we weren't old enough to fight in a war and yet here we all are!'

"You guys fought in a war?" Percy asked. He seemed a little concerned, Sophie thought when she looked at him through the corner of her eye, but also, he looked like he'd had some experience. Percy gave her a sad look and composed his features to show complete shock and concern. And Fitz was just eating it up.

"Yes, we did. It was bad too. We lost a lot of lives, countless, but we won," Fitz raised an eyebrow. "Did you fight at all?"

Percy's eyes narrow. Keefe glimpsed at Sophie like a scared cat before miming a ticking time bomb and looking at Percy. Upon glancing at the older boy, you could never have told anyone that he was angry. Everything about his posture screamed: I AM RELAXED!

But when Keefe said something about emotions, usually, he was correct.
