What had she just witness? What was that? How did Percy do that? Who was that girl? Where did she come from? What is happening.
All of these questions kept repeating in Sophie's mind. Over and over and over again as she walked back to Havenfield.
She kinda wished she hadn't hid in the woods to watch Percy a little longer. Even though she had apologized to him for searching through his brain without permission, it didn't mean that she trusted him. In fact, it made her trust him even less. But when that girl dropped out of the sky, Sophie decided it was time to go.
She stumbled over the threshold and then escaped to the comfort of her room before Edaline or Grady could intercept her and ask her about her day, or how it went with Percy.
Unfortunately, with Sophie's luck, she wasn't about to be left alone.
"Hullo, Blondie. Haven't seen you in forever," said Keefe, who was lounging on her new rocking chair she had just gotten. It was placed next to her bookshelf, exactly where she needed it.
"Hi Keefe," Sophie replied. She felt her cheeks heat up and she resisted the urge to pick at her eyelashes.
"Today was our day to hangout, remember? In fact, you planned it," he said. Keefe stood and stalked closer to Sophie. She gulped. "You're really smart, and you have a great memory, how does one like you forget important stuff such as that?"
"I'm sorry," Sophie said, guilt lacing her words for the third time today.
Keefe brushed a strand of hair behind her ears. "Another question," Sophie braced herself. "....why are you covering up your scars?"
And she deflated. That wasn't what she expected. She was prepared to answer everything that had happened today.
"I- I... I don't like them," she admitted with a shrug.
"Oh Foster," Keefe said sadly. A tone she didn't hear very often from him.
"Percy's coming back, I think," Sophie remarked happily. Keefe glared at her for the subject change but he followed along nonetheless.
And just like that Percy walked in. With a princess next to him.

"Who's that?" asked Keefe, efficiently bringing Sophie out of her thoughts. That girl standing next to Percy, holding his hand, and smiling up warmly at him, was the same girl who fell from the sky not even five minutes ago.
"This is Annabeth," said Percy. He grabbed her by the waist and tucked her to his side, as if he was never going to let go of her again. And maybe he wasn't. Percy pressed a kiss to her forehead. Annabeth smiled.
Sophie took the time to study the girl. She was the same as Percy. Her eyes darting around the room, noting every little detail down to perfection. Her body was relaxed, but Annabeth definitely wasn't relaxed emotionally. Sophie knew, that at the first sign of danger Annabeth would spring into action. She had these assessing grey eyes that set Sophie on edge. Her skin was tan, maybe she was a girl who spent hours on the beaches of California, but it was littered with scars. Also like Percy's. But this girl, she looked like she could beat an alligator in a wrestling match while reading a book.
"She your girlfriend?" Keefe asked. Sophie resisted the urge to roll her eyes. He was so dumb sometimes. But she still lo- liked him for that.
"Obviously," Percy deadpanned. Keefe chuckled.
"Linh is going to be so madddd...." Sophie smacked Keefe.
"I'm Annabeth as you already know, you must be Sophie." Sophie didn't mean to flinch, but when the princess looking girl appeared in front of her so silently, scared her. It reminded her of the Neverseen, appearing out of nowhere.
"I- yeah. Yeah. I'm Sophie Foster... and... This is Keefe, my boyfriend," she said nervously. Annabeth's strangely calculated eyes quickly assessed Sophie which made her shiver. Annabeth seemed strangely powerful and gave off the same frightening aura as Percy. Then her eyes turned to Keefe, who wasn't paying attention.
Sophie noticed that Percy stayed close to Annabeth even though he was focusing most of his attention to Keefe and their weird boy conversation. Every so often, Percy would kiss Annabeth, or play a piece of hair between his fingers. He would casually trail his finger down her arm, pull her hand to his mouth and kiss each finger, flip it over, and kiss her palm. Annabeth would place a hand over the small of his back and kiss his shoulder.
With a jolt, Sophie realized that they were reassuring each other that they were together. She couldn't help but think that something bad had happened to them, separating each other. It was so sweet. But then Sophie thought of her distrust for Percy and now this random girl.
And she knew, she was going to figure out everything.
