3rd Person Sophie's POV

All of those scars on his body.

There were a thousand times more on his than there was on hers.

She couldn't imagine what this boy had been through.

When Keefe ran after him, Grady and Edaline sat her down to tell her who Percy was. They were trying to ignore all the scars on his upper body. Who knows how many he has?

Apparently, Percy was from one of the lost cities near Manhattan. (A/N Idk if this is correct but... oh well) He's also a transfer student from the City there, but Foxfire was the only noble school sooo... Percy wasn't noble. Maybe.

But then again he didn't look like an elf but he was and he was a hydrokinetic. Maybe that's why Sophie felt all the power radiating off of him. But she didn't feel that way around Lihn.

Percy would only be staying for a few weeks, they had told her when they sat down in his temporary room.

"But the scars, Mom? What- er- where are they from?" Sophie asked for the fifth time.

"I don't know, Soph," Edaline said and sighed.

"The boy has had a hard life, from what Bronte has told me-" Grady began.

Sophie cut him off. "And what's that?"

Grady and Edaline shared a look. "Look, Sophie, if Percy wants to tell you what he's been through he can. It isn't our place to tell anyone. You have to respect his privacy, even if it is hard."

Sophie sighed. "Fine. Where's Sandor by the way?"

"He's outside cleaning out the verminion's pen," Edaline gave a short explanation.

"Why in the world is he doing that?"

"Because of Percy. He has major PTSD and we were afraid Sandor would scare him," Grady told her, literally after telling Sophie he wouldn't tell her anything about Percy that was personal.

But Sophie understood where Percy was coming from. She had PTSD herself. Sometimes she couldn't fall asleep or she'd wake up screaming and drenched in cold sweat. She was always on guard and even the simplest of sounds made her jump.

She walked out to the verminion field where Sandor was working and tried to get the verminion away from him at the same time.

"Hi Sandor," Sophie gave him a small wave when he looked at her.

"Hello, Sophie," Sandor replied in his squeaky voice that made it seem like he should be wearing a pink tutu.

"Have you seen Percy?" Sophie asked.

"From a distance," Sandor shrugged. He opened the pen and slipped out to walk with Sophie. After her defeat of the Neverseen, Sandor was no longer her bodyguard but chose to stay with Sophie for a little while longer, just to be safe. "I don't know how I feel about him, but for some reason, I fully trust him."
