Chapter 40: Gone everywhere but still going nowhere!

A/N: The following scenes in this chapter for the Savanclaw students and Lilith were inspired by some cute animal videos my friend showed me and their adorable cat, so I hope you enjoy this chapter~ XD

Once we all got into the Hall of Mirrors, we went into another dorm mirror. This mirror had an elaborate silver frame with a carving of a beautiful peacock and its lavish tail trailing down the length of its mirror. Cylindrical gemstones line both sides of the stairs like stalagmites shooting up.

After going through the mirror portal, our jaws drop at the sight of the massive Gothic castle housing the Pomefiore dorms. It is set amidst lush and well-landscaped gardens and surrounded by a tall fence. The robust grey edifice is composed of surrounding curtain walls and multiple corner towers topped with dark grey turrets piercing the skies above them. Its impenetrable exterior is interspersed by clusters of windows on the front and the sides of the castle. The Pomefiore flag hangs above the cream-coloured arched doorway with two white columns.

Upon our entry into the interior of the castle, we walk past an impressive, elegant-looking lounge with a royal blue colour scheme, accompanied by golden columns and heavy burgundy-red drapes. A large crystal chandelier hangs down from the ceiling in a room painted in royal blue, interspersed with golden and pale yellow columns around the entire room. Even the vintage carpet in lavender colour occupying the centre of the floor has a floral pattern with the same royal blue colour. The ornate chairs and couches with golden frames, arms and legs are similarly decorated with the matching royal blue floral fabric.

"Woah, this is so fancy... Their dorm's pretty high-class, don't you think, Grim?" I am awed at the contrast of structure. Grim nods, gazing around him in excitement.

All of us gather around Riddle and Cater.

"First up at Pomefiore Dorm. There's a third-year named Rook Hunt in my "Cater check." He has a blond bob cut and he is known for wearing his tan-coloured fedora and high-cut trekking boots that really do not go with the uniform, as well as a pair of black leather gloves. You can't miss him," Cater announces. The uniforms of all the dorms are largely the same, except that the Pomefiore students wear a purple vest and a purple ribbon tied around his left arm.

Riddle reads the information Cater has given to the group out loud: "Last year, Rook was a standout player. However, there's something off about him..."

Just then, Deuce calls out to us: "Ah. Isn't that him sitting over there?" Deuce is peeking behind a wall and pointing at a trio sitting in the lounge having tea.

When I see them, I think my eyes may be blinded by how gorgeous they look.

"Wow. They look so good that they seem to be shining..." mutters Ace, just as taken aback as I am.

"Yeah, I feel like I might go blind here," I mutter in reply as I rub my eyes. I make a mental note to buy myself a pair of sunglasses at Mr. S's store later if I ever visit Pomefiore again.

Apart from Rook Hunt with his signature look, I recognise a fragile-looking boy I saw at the cafeteria some time ago and Vil-senpai.

"Non, Epel, non. It is not elegant to put your fingers through the handle when you drink tea," Rook was admonishing the fragile-looking boy, whom I now know is called Epel.

"Eh...ah, alright, I'm sorry," replies Epel timidly, as he tries again to better imitate Rook's example.

"I am still undecided about the makeup for the tournament. I'm very curious about the new foundation from Felicite Cosmetics," Vil is pondering with a frown on his face.
