The next day...

"Wakey, wakey, rise and shine, kiddos! You have about an hour left to get ready for classes!" Fatty Ghost calls out. I feel the lightness of his ghost touch against my shoulder. As we have yet to purchase a proper alarm clock, Fatty Ghost is a pretty good substitute.

"I'm *yawn* up. Thanks for the wake-up call, Fatty Ghost," I thank him, feeling excited at the prospect of having a mystery to solve — the investigation of the mysteriously injured students.

Grim also emits a yawn as he taps his tail on the bedding in annoyance. I notice strands of his fur on his side of the bed. Oh no, he's shedding again! I jog towards the bathroom and come back with a spare brush to brush Grim. He melts onto my lap as I brush his fur. I sigh in relief when most of his coat is combed and the strands of fur deposited in the bin beside the room door.

Then it was my turn. I got dressed in my uniform, grabbed my ghost camera bag, and the scribbled note with the name of one of the latest victims of the incident as a starting point from Principal Crowley. After saying goodbye to the ghosts, Grim and I head off to our first class of the day. Potions.

----------------------

Once we enter the classroom, Crewel sensei starts teaching us the basic elements of magic, focusing on their strengths and weaknesses in relation to one another. As I think this knowledge may come in handy for spell-casting and potion-making in the future, I take good notes during the class.

"Once again, puppies, fire magic is strong against flora magic but is weak against water magic. Water magic is strong against fire but is weak against flora. Flora magic is strong against water but is weak against fire. Finally, cosmic is a neutral element," he explains, placing his pointer on a summary chart of the elements. Then the bell rings for dismissal.

"That will be all for today. Remember that we'll be making actual potions next week on Monday, so don't forget to wear your lab coats for class," reminds Crewel Sensei. I tense up, realising that I have yet to receive a proper lab coat. Therefore, while the others are packing up their belongings, I approach Crewel sensei quickly.

"Crewel-sensei, would you have any spare lab coats lying around? Principal Crowley hadn't given me one yet," I explain. Crewel's eyes widen for a moment before sighing tiredly and opening a cabinet beside his desk.

"Not a problem, pup. Let me take your measurements and I'll personally make you and Grim lab coats since we don't normally have one in your sizes, anyway," Crewel sensei reassures me in a calm and composed voice. Then he takes our measurements with his tape measure and writes it down on his leather notepad.

"Tell me, pup. Has Principal Crowley given you other proper uniforms at all? Your current uniform looks like you have been left out in the streets," Crewel sensei scrutinises my tattered uniform critically.

My face turns red-hot, feeling self-conscious that the sewing skills I have from Mr. Sam have not been enough to enable me to salvage my uniform. Oh well, I tried!

"That overgrown crow didn't give us anything! Lilith only has three sets of clothing. She tries her best to sew them back together again," defends Grim, openly venting his annoyance at Principal Crowley. Crewel sensei rubs the bridge of his nose, muttering "this damned crow" under his breath.
