Note: I DO NOT OWN TWISTED WONDERLAND: DISNEY!
Chapter 36: All things new!
----------------------
Grim and I look at each other, confused: "Magical Shift Tournament?" We ask in unison.
But at the same time, Deuce and Ace stare at us in shock: "Wha- Lilith, you don't know Magift?!"
"I'm from another world, remember?" I respond, as I give him a 'really?' look. Ace rubs the back of his neck and mutters a timid apology to hide his forgetfulness.
"Magical Shift is famous around the world... or rather our world. There's a Pro League and a World Cup, too," explains Deuce.
"I don't know either!" whines Grim, detaching himself from my sleeve.
"Magical Shift, known more as Magift for short, is a sport played by two teams of seven players. Put simply, there's a disk that you have to throw through the other team's goal to score points. The team with the most points wins," explains Ace.
The game's rules sound somewhat similar to a familiar game I know. "Sounds like fun, it's kinda like American football," I comment.
Deuce looks at me in confusion: "American football? Is that a sport from your home? Is that a piece of your memory coming back?" he asks.
I shake my head: "Kinda? It's just the rules sounded familiar and that was the game that came to mind."
Principal Crowley looks deep in thought: "Hmm. It's not something I've heard before. I'll look it up the next time I'm in the library. It may even turn into a lead..."
"But it may be hard for you to take part in a game of Magift, Lilith," remarks Ace.
"Why's that?" asks Grim with a pout. I frown in agreement with Grim.
"Magical Shift is a sport that uses magic. The disk is carried with magic, the defence and offence team can also use magic," replies Deuce. "How big a spectacle you can make with magic is also part of being a great player," continues Ace.
"Yes!" Principal Crowley exclaims suddenly. "That's why Night Raven College is known as a champion around the world! Countless alumni have gone on to become pro players! Magift is an athletic sport that uses magic. Our school's Inter-Dorm Magical Shift Tournament is attended by representatives of pro leagues and those from different magical industries around the world."
Taking a deep breath, Principal Crowley continues: "The arena will be lined with food stalls and visitors from different countries will grace the stadium. It is a tournament that'll make your palms sweat and works the whole world into a frenzy, thanks to the live broadcast on TV cameras."
"TV cameras!?" I gasp in disbelief at how popular the sport is.
"Worldwide broadcast!? So if I play in that tournament, the whole world will be paying attention to me!?" exclaims Grim. His face erupts into a huge smile.
"Certainly! Those who play in the tournament will, without a doubt, become popular with pro leagues and any number of sponsors," adds Principal Crowley.
"In your case, Grim, I think they'd be more surprised by seeing a monster play," Ace points out, with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
In his excitement, Grim misses Ace's sarcasm: "Oh yeah! I'll start special training today and stand out to everyone in that stadium!"
"Oh! But Grim, you can't play at all," interrupts Principal Crowley.
Grim freezes in mid-cheer. "Huh?"
