Hello, readers, it's been quite a while, but I'm finally able to update it today. Happy reading!

Chapter 6: Twisted telling of Ace-story!

----------------------

I scramble to grab the hand, but it seems to be moving further and further away, out of my grasp. Mounting panic engulfs me, as I am unable to grip onto it. Before the darkness closes in, sounds of laughter ring outside...

My eyelids fly open. Cold sweat is running down my face. I turn towards the window: it is morning. I sigh in relief. What is that? A nightmare? Or a memory?

I put my arm over my eyes to shield them from the morning sun, but I feel a slight weight on my arm. I turn to the weight and find Grim sound asleep: his head is resting on my arm, as though it is a pillow, and his limbs are splayed out. I sigh, wriggling my arm, as I try to free myself.

Just then, the familiar skinny ghost appears, looming over me.

"What do you want?" I ask.

The ghost laughs and mocks at me, with a rascally twinkle in his eye: "Heeheehee... don't you two have to be up to clean the school?"

Before I can say anything, I feel Grim moving a little bit and starting to mutter in his sleep: "Unn... munyaa... five more minutes..."

Soon, the two other ghosts from last night reappear and float towards Grim's sleeping form: "Laze about too long and you'll never wake up again," whispers the smallest ghost in his ear.

"Just like us! Heehee!" laughs the fat ghost. After hearing that threat, Grim's eyes snap open and he bolts upright: "Ffgya!? It's those ghosts again! Hey, why didn't you wake me up sooner?!!"

I finally sit up, put Wolly aside and grab the same candle stand that I had used last night.

"Arrrrrrggggh! It's too early for this..." I mutter, as I get up and raise up my candle stand. Let the morning battle begin.

----------------------

After fighting for a while, the ghosts finally withdraw from the bedroom. Before disappearing with his phantom pals, the skinny ghost cackles, "Are you going to be living here? You're gonna get pranked. Kekeke!"

Grim huffs angrily at skinny ghost's laugh and yells back: "Shoot! We'll get rid of you eventually!"

I set my candlestand down wearily and collapse on the bed. Before I can relax, Principal Crowley walks into the room.

"Good morning, you two. I trust you slept well?" he asks.

"The mattress was hard as a rock! Just how ramshackle did you let this place get? Then the ghosts woke me up. This is the worst!" complains Grim.

I shrug and answer, "I slept like a rock!"

Principal Crowley smiles at my answer: "Even though you just got tossed over from another world, you can still be cheeky. Wonderful!" Then his face turns serious, as he informs me before leaving our room: "However, I came here to speak to you about your work for today. I will meet you at the lounge once you are ready."

----------------------

There isn't much time to waste. Grim has decided to catch a few more winks outside the bedroom: "Don't mind me."

I seize the opportunity to rush into the bathroom. There, I quickly brush my hair and gurgle my mouth with water. Next, I run into the conjoined bedroom to put on the school uniform. Once I've tied the little navy blue bow under the collar of my white button shirt, I step back to take a final look at myself in the mirror. My lush light-purple hair falls over the entire left side of my face; a hair clip featuring two royal purple roses with two green leaves on one side holds up the rest of my hair from my face. I don't know how this clip ended up in my hair, but it has been part my belongings since the very beginning of my adventure in this magical land. I look smart in a black uniform jacket that I wear over my white button shirt. The jacket is a perfect match for my black knee-length pleated skirt and the long white socks I am wearing with black strapped shoes.
