Chapter 49: Leona therapy!

A/N: Hello, dear readers! I'm finally back from my sudden break but don't worry I'm finally here with a very long-awaited update. So enjoy the chapter~!

----------------------

"Ugh..." I groan slightly. My eyes open slowly to see the familiar white ceiling and Wolly's face up close. He looks relieved to see me waking up and gently pats my face with his paw. I sit up and rub my face. As I wake up, I can feel the numbness of my arms and legs subside away, though it only reminds me of how sore my limbs are.

Leona is lying across from me with his back facing me. Carefully, I walk over to Leona, cutting a wide berth so that I wouldn't startle him. I stand at a spot where I can scrutinise Leona's face and notice that he is lost in thought.

It looks safe for me to start... I take a seat beside Leona and cough discreetly to gain his attention. At the same time, Wolly starts rummaging in Leona's pockets, in search of the memory gem.

But this annoys Leona: he gives Wolly a little smack on his tail to get Wolly off him and shifts his position to look at the white ceiling while shooting me a glance: "What's a cub like you doing here?"

"Given the situation you're in and you still have the strength to call me by a nickname, it must be a good sign. Well, would you care to tell us about your problems? " I start casually, hoping that Leona would not resist.

Leona snorts dismissively: "How could a little cub like you save me?"

"Um, by talking to me, of course?" I reply.

"You? You cannot understand the despair I feel..." mutters Leona softly with a hint of bitterness.

I raise an eyebrow. Suddenly, I grab his face to turn Leona towards me: "Oh, yeah? Try me." My sassiness takes Leona by surprise. His jaws almost drop to the ground.

But this small breakthrough is interrupted by Wolly tugging on my clothing and showing me a black crystal.

A familiar colorless film screen starts to roll in front of us.

On the screen, we see a very luxurious hallway, paved with stone slabs of various sizes, flanked by towering marble columns spaced evenly. Just beyond the hallway was the savanna with a stone cliff on the right side of the screen illuminated by the reddish glow of the setting sun.

Suddenly, a lady-in-waiting and a butler, dressed in uniforms, appear. "Huuh... His Highness Falena is so bright and cheerful, but... why is his younger brother so hard to please..." the butler complains while sighing helplessly.

"On top of that, he can use magic to change anything to sand. So terrifying..." adds the lady-in-waiting, shivering in fear.

Another servant strides towards them, looking annoyed: "Shut your mouths! What if someone hears you?" His scolding causes the other two to scurry away.

As the film pauses, Leona sighs before opening his mouth to speak: "Since I was born, it's felt like there's an immovable stone atop my head. If I had been born first, I'm sure they'd be singing a different tune. They would be saying, 'His Highness, Leona, is so thoughtful and an extremely formidable wizard. Completely different from his carefree brother.'

I gaze at Leona in sympathy, casting him an empathetic ear. Leona seems to respond as he straightens up and continues: "Because I was born second, I get nitpicked for everything I do. They extol the firstborn at the expense of the second. No matter what I do, I'll never be first."
