Finding You, Part 6, Chapter 38 —
At Skye/Lorenzo — Skye and Lorenzo were in the den when Skylar came in. "Skylar, is Genevieve ready to go to the club?" Skye asked. "Genevieve is still getting ready. I want to talk to you both," Skylar said. "Sure, what about?" Lorenzo asked. "Just that I love the gallery, and thanks so much for buying it for me," Skylar said. "You're welcome. It's nice to see that glow back in your eyes," Lorenzo said. "Thanks, Daddy," Skylar replied. "Yes, it is, and you have talent," Skye commented.
In the living room, Genevieve unlocked a drawer from Lorenzo's desk. She always knows where the key is. "Daddy, you sure changed your hiding spot, really?" Genevieve muttered to herself as she unlocked the drawer, pulled out a box, closed the drawer, and then opened the box. "I knew it! Oh, Alexander, it's so beautiful. This isn't fair!" Genevieve yelled as Skylar, Skye, and Lorenzo entered. "Your sister should be ready," Skye said, finding Genevieve in the living room. "Genevieve, what are you doing by my desk?" Lorenzo asked. "How dare you, Daddy! You took Alexander's ring. You had no right to do that to me!" Genevieve yelled. "I did what was best for you! Alexander is no good for you!" Lorenzo shouted. "What! He is better than you'll ever be! He's smart, an element, and a businessman. You had no right to mess with my life! Why did you do this?" Genevieve yelled. "Because when your mother and I received the call about the fire on the plane, we feared we would lose you. If you were safe, I promised I'd keep you safe," Lorenzo explained. "This isn't Alexander's fault about the plane crash. You hate when others blame you. There's more going on here; you're keeping something else from me," Genevieve said. Lorenzo and Skye exchanged a look. "Both of you better start talking," Genevieve demanded. "Genevieve is right," Skylar said. "Genevieve, what were you fighting with Alexander about?" Skye asked. "Why do you want to know?" Genevieve responded. "It will make sense," Skye said. "I had a scare that I was pregnant in Italy because Alexander didn't wear a condom, but thankfully I wasn't. The pregnancy test was hard to read, but I didn't want to be a mother yet. Wait, is there a reason why Dr. Kelly keeps calling me to come in for a Pap smear? Mother, was I pregnant?" Genevieve asked. "Yes," Skye replied. "I lost the baby," Genevieve said. "Yes," Skye confirmed. "Why did you both keep this from Genevieve? She had a right to know," Skylar said. "We thought it was the right thing to do. You need to focus on your recovery. You would have lost it anyway, and you're too young," Lorenzo said. "That wasn't your choice to make! I hate it here! I always hate this house!" Genevieve yelled as she ran upstairs. "I'll go check on her," Skye said. "No, Mother, I think you've done enough. Genevieve had a right to grieve for that baby," Skylar said, heading upstairs. "This isn't good," Skye said. "No, it's not," Lorenzo agreed.
In Genevieve's room, she was sitting on the window ledge, her favorite spot to think or read. Skylar came in and sat beside her. "Ginny, I'm sorry. What they did was wrong," Skylar said. "I had a right to grieve for that baby," Genevieve replied. "Yes, you did," Skylar said. "I don't know if I can stay here and forgive them. How do you do it?" Genevieve asked. "It wasn't easy," Skylar responded. "No, it's not," Genevieve said. "Whatever you want to do, I'm here for you," Skylar assured. "You're always here for me," Genevieve said. "Yes, I am," Skylar agreed.
