i've tried goodbye a hundred times, not one of them true. nobody like you, nobody like you. i'm screaming i don't want you but you know that i do. nobody like you.
'Open the door, babe'
She told herself she wouldn't let him back in, but she couldn't resist him when he called, when he needed her. She stared down at the text message, pondering if she would ignore him or actually let him in ... again. She tried a million times to break herself away from him, but she always failed. She always found herself right back where he wanted her.
'Taylor, please, I need you.'
She was already ready to cry. She got up from her spot on the couch and walked over to the door, just as tears started to trickle from her eyes. She couldn't believe she had found herself caught up with a married man in the first place. They had been seeing each other for little over a year now, and it was more than just an affair, more than just him cheating on his wife for the hell of it. Her heart was in it, and she could tell his was now too. Their relationship had gone from a night or two here and there for a couple of hours of fun, to him staying longer, until he was there from sunset to sunrise. She didn't know what his wife thought of his nights away, but all she knew was she had him part of the time.
She unlocked her apartment door and opened it, seeing him standing there. His head hung low at first sight. When he noticed she had opened the door, he walked right in, placing his arms around her waist, in return her arms went around his neck. Using his foot, he kicked the door closed and just held her close. God, she loved him so much, and it hurt to know that he was only with her part-time. She wanted him here all the time, and it was the cause of many of their arguments. Whenever she suggested he should leave his wife and be with her, things went south.
They stood there, embracing each other for what felt like forever. She didn't want to let this moment go, because she knew that if something she did, things would go downhill. She told him she didn't want to talk, yet he was here anyway. His need to be in front of her whenever he said what he said worried her. Most of the things he had to say stung her enough through text, why did he need to see her down this time? She finally pulled away from the hug that she had been so comfortable in. She needed to get this conversation started and possibly over with. "Are you finally going to tell me you're leaving her?" She asked directly. There was no need to beat around the bush here.
"She's my wife." She knew the words were coming, almost before she even finished her sentence. He said it every time she asked. Every time she brought up the subject, he said the same string of sentences, and it was predictable at this point.
"Stop dragging me along. If you don't want to be with me full time, leave me alone." She didn't mean that, she knew it, and he knew it.
"I want to be with you, not her," He told her, truthfully. If he never had to go back, he never would. He would have packed up all his things a long time ago and left.
"Then leave her!" She shouted, her emotions getting the best of her rather quickly. She wasn't the type to scream to get her way, but sometimes things built up and she acted in ways that weren't normal for her. "Leave her and be with me! Why is that so hard?!"
"She's pregnant, Taylor! She's pregnant." The words, along with his tone, hit her harder than she expected them to. She didn't think he was coming over to tell her this. She wished he hadn't said it at all. "She's pregnant and it's the last thing I want." He confessed. He didn't want to have a baby with the woman that had made his life something of a burning hell. He would have been happier if Taylor was pregnant. At least he knew Taylor wouldn't blame a child for any downfall that she faced during or after pregnancy. With his wife, he wasn't so sure. He already felt trapped in his marriage, and now the feeling was 10 times worse. He genuinely didn't want this.
"Get the fuck out!" Tears were running down her face already, but they only flowed faster now after the shock of his words. She tried to walk away from him, only for him to grab her by the arm, stopping her progress. "Get out." She tried to say again, her voice was broken and lowering. She could feel her insides falling apart with each passing second. She wanted the floor to consume her. The room felt like it was starting to spin as so many thoughts circled her mind.
Travis dropped to his knees, hugging her legs, as his own tears started to fall. There was nothing he wanted more than to be with her, but he couldn't find a way to leave his wife. She thought everything between them was perfectly fine, while he had been unhappy in his marriage for years now. It hurt him that he was hurting Taylor, but he didn't want to hurt the woman he was married to for little over 3 years now. He rested his head on her legs as he listened to her cry, her hands resting on his head. He couldn't imagine what was going through her head, but he knew he hated it. He hated that he was doing this to her. "I'm not leaving. You make me so happy, Tay. I'm at my best when I'm with you. I'm only myself with you."
Silence and a few isolated sobs from the two of them consumed the room before Travis stood on his own two feet again. He rested his forehead on hers, staring down into her eyes, her captivating blue eyes. He brought his hands to her face and let his thumbs pad along her cheeks, wiping around the tears that were still silently falling from her eyes. Just standing here with her, he knew all of his feelings for her were real. He was genuinely in love with her. His actions didn't match his feelings, he was going to change that eventually. As he stared into her eyes, he could see her begging, pleading, for him to stay with her. She didn't need to say anything, he wasn't going anywhere. He pressed his lips to hers, and it took her no time to take hold of his shirt and pull him in closer to her. This was so right, for the both of them.
She reached up and took his hand, breaking the kiss that slowly had gone from sweet to passionate. She led him to her bedroom, a place he had been a number of times before. He released her hand and watched her walk over to her bed. Even in her pajama pants, her tank top, and tears strains on her face, he thought she was the most beautiful person to him. He walked over to her, and slowly laid her down on the bed. "I wanted you to have my kids." He told her, placing a quick kiss to her lips.
"Then get me pregnant." He looked at her and by the look in her eye, he could tell she was serious. He had grown to read her expressions well, and when she was joking, there was a certain light in her eyes that he didn't see right now.
"I'm in love with you. Do you know that?" Of course she knew that. She wouldn't continue this day after day if she didn't know that he did. She responded with a little nod, knowing where the rest of the night would take her.
