''I'm Kim Mingyu, CEO of 'Les Carats'. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Do Do-hee.''
Mingyu introduced himself to me and Haewon while I was quite mesmerized by how handsome he looked. Just like a sculpted work of art. His jawline was so sharp and his hair looked so soft. Those eyes looked so warm yet cold in a way.
'Get a grip on yourself, Do-hee.'
I reprimanded myself for crushing on him and focused on his long, elegant hand stretched out for a handshake. I shook his hand, feeling how firm his grip was.
"Nice to meet you too, Mr. Kim Mingyu. I'm happy that you agreed to have a meeting with us," Haewon said, standing beside me.
"The pleasure is all mine, Ms. Haewon. Please have a seat, and let's talk about our deal." Mingyu and I both took a seat facing each other while his secretary and Haewon remained standing beside us. "Would you like any refreshments?" he asked.
"Water would be nice," I replied with a small smile. A wise person once said that a smile is the biggest weapon. I planned to win this deal with my smile while my opponent, Kim Mingyu, was going to test me with his sharp eyes and stoic face. After drinking some water, I calmed my nerves while the two men watched me like hawks.
"So, Ms. Do-hee, if I'm correct, this would be your first appearance after your five-month hiatus, right?" he asked.
"Yes, this would be my first public appearance after my hiatus," I answered honestly. I was in a controversy for mistreating my hairstylist, which was absolutely false, but I never cleared the allegations. Actually, I never cleared any allegations ever made about me. No wonder I have such a bad reputation.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but the scandal was about you misbehaving with your former hairstylist, right? Let me quote what she said: 'Actress/Model Do Do-hee is a cunning and manipulative person. She always abused me mentally, even for small things. She treated me like a peasant. After working for her for seven months, I quit my job. Now, here I am, having the courage to expose her in front of everyone. I hope she acknowledges her mistakes.' You seemed to have had a lot of backlash from it. What do you have to say about it? You didn't respond to it."
Mingyu looked at me expectantly. Haewon looked at me worriedly, and before she could answer, I spoke, "It's all false information. I never misbehaved with any of my staff members. I don't know why she's spreading misinformation about me like that."
"If you deny the allegations, then why did you go on a hiatus? You could've denied it and had her arrested for spreading malicious news about you."
"I didn't do that because Ms. Park Sara, the hairstylist, has a disabled mother whom she needs to take care of. If I reported her, who would take care of her mother? I couldn't live with the guilt of someone else suffering because of her deed."
"But, for now, there's nothing that could prove your innocence. We have to check a few things before we can give you the position and responsibility of an ambassador. It's not a simple task being an ambassador. We have to be sure the person is capable of such a big role. We don't want to give this task to just anyone who claims to be innocent."
Mingyu answered with a serious expression. I took out my phone and showed him a video. "Here you can see her stealing staff from my room. You can also see that I always speak politely and gently with her. Even after all this, would you still not believe me?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"So you have proof that it wasn't you who misbehaved with the staff at all. Then why did you accept the allegations and go on a hiatus? If you're innocent, why didn't you expose it from the beginning?" He seemed genuinely confused.
