My heart froze in my chest. I felt the color drain from my face.
'How did he know that?'
Mingyu noticed the shift in my expression and grabbed my hand, his eyes filled with concern. Mr. Park looked pleased with himself, his smirk almost gloating at this point. Mingyu's grip on my hand tightened as he looked at me with a mixture of shock and worry. He opened his mouth to say something, but Mr. Park spoke up before he could. "Let me guess," he said. "You don't remember telling me that, do you, darling?" Tears welled up in my eyes as the realization sank in. Mr Park knew I couldn't remember, and he was taking advantage of that. I felt helpless, betrayed, and angry that he could so easily manipulate the truth. Mingyu's grip on my hand was almost painfully tight now. He looked like he was barely controlling himself from launching himself at Mr Park. He knew what was happening, and he hated every second of it.
Mingyu stepped forward, nearly shaking with anger. I could practically hear his teeth grinding. "That doesn't mean anything, you bastard!" he said, his voice a low growl. "Do-hee was drunk! She wasn't in her right mind to give consent!"
Mr Park chuckled, shaking his head in mock sympathy. "Oh, I see," he said. "Trying to find an excuse, are we? But I distinctly remember her saying she was fine."
Mingyu's fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. I could see the veins in his arms straining with the effort of containing himself. "You took advantage of her," he said through gritted teeth. "You're a sick bastard, and you know it. You know she was drunk."
Mr Park just shrugged, looking infuriatingly indifferent. "Hey now, I didn't force her to drink. She drank willingly. Not my fault she couldn't handle her alcohol."
Against my better judgment, I spoke up, trying to keep my voice steady. "Mingyu," I whispered, "I...I don't remember what happened last night. I don't remember telling him about the mole. He might be telling the truth... I think...I believe...him"
Mingyu flinched at my words, looking back at me with a stunned expression. He obviously didn't expect me to defend Mr Park's version of the story. He opened his mouth to say something, but Mr Park cut in before he could. "See?" He said, his smirk turning gloating. "She's finally starting to realize the truth."
A tear slipped down my cheek as I met Mingyu's gaze. His expression was a mixture of hurt, disbelief, and betrayal. He was clearly trying to process my words, but the pain was written all over his face. "You...believe him?" It seemed like the revelation that I believe him hurt Mingyu more than anything else.
I could feel the hurt rolling off of him in waves. The way his eyes hardened as he looked at me, the tightness around his jaw...it was clear that my words had struck a nerve. "I... I don't know what to believe anymore," I said, my voice cracking. "I don't remember anything from last night. I don't remember what I said or what I did."
Mingyu's expression had turned cold and distant, his eyes fixed on a spot on the floor. He looked like he was struggling to process my words, like there was a part of him that didn't want to believe it. "You're now...believing him? The man who took advantage of you?!" To my astonishment, Mingyu chuckled dryly hearing me. He couldn't believe what I just said. "Wow, Do-hee. Now...that sucks more. Not you sleeping with this piece of trash but...you believing him more."
The words stung, his cold, bitter chuckle piercing my heart. "Mingyu, that's not what I meant-" I mumbled, reaching out to grab his arm. But he stepped back, avoiding my touch.
Mr Park watched the exchange with a smirk. He was loving every moment of this, the discord between us. I felt a pang of hurt as Mingyu stepped back, avoiding my touch. His coldness was like a dagger to my heart, and I couldn't bear the distance between us. I wanted to explain, to make him understand that I wasn't choosing Mr Park over him, but the words got caught in my throat. Mr Park chuckled again, the sound almost obnoxious in his mockery. "Seems like you're losing her, Mr Mingyu," he sneered. "She trusts me more than she trusts you. Well, now since I told the truth I'll take my leave to let you two lovebirds resolve your problem." Saying so he left while creating a huge turmoil between me and Mingyu.
