'Yes, it's true. We're dating.'

The reporters were completely blown away by this sudden development. I kept talking to avoid the silence taking over the stage. "Yeah, you guys are correct. Ms. Do-hee and I are currently in a relationship. We've been going out for a while to get to know each other. I would like to clarify that we've kept our dating status low-key as we value our privacy. But I wanted to address any concerns and rumors you might have heard recently."

However, they still tried to pound on her, asking, "Ms. Do-hee, you look shocked by this news. Were you not aware of anything?" I looked at Do-hee, hoping she wouldn't deny my statement and put me in a tough situation.

"I was just a bit surprised by this sudden revelation, but... yes, it's the truth," she answered, putting on a small smile.

Everyone was murmuring and going crazy with this news. "We're gradually getting to know each other. Please send love and support to our relationship and our new project launch. Thank you." Saying so, I took her hand and left the conference.

While walking out of the corridor with both secretaries tailing behind, she let go of her wrist from my hand and, looking annoyed, said, "Mr. Mingyu, can we talk in private?"

"Yeah, sure. Let's talk somewhere private." I knew she would ask that question, so I led us inside an empty room, leaving both our secretaries behind.

After I closed the door behind us, she started to ask, "Can I ask why you lied to the reporters?"

"Well, the reporters were relentless and really pushy with their questions. I felt like we couldn't get away until one of us said something concrete. I didn't want things to get any uglier or cause any new rumors, so I improvised that lie."

"You could've told any lie. Why did you tell them that we're dating when we're not?" I sighed. Her reaction showed me that this was a delicate matter, and I understood why she wouldn't be happy with my decision. My response would most likely not make her feel any better, but I would still provide it.

"Well, as you know, we've been under scrutiny lately due to those photos of you going in and out of my house and so on. So, I decided to take my chance and turn this situation into something that actually works for us."

"Well, we could've just told the truth then! That you saved me from a stalker!" Do-hee exclaimed with frustration.

"Well, then how would I have explained about us having dinner and me feeding you? The feeding part definitely made it seem quite suggestive. I doubt it would be taken as an innocent outing even if I told them the truth and explained the stalker situation." I replied, getting a little bit annoyed.

'Gosh, why is she not understanding why I had to tell such a lie? Does she think I enjoy saying such a thing? I told them this lie considering every aspect. It was the only way to handle the current situation.'

Hearing my reply, she just gave a big sigh, "Can I think about it?"

"Sure, let's just go home first and talk about it tomorrow. How about that?" I said calmly, reassuringly. After we agreed to talk about this situation tomorrow, we got out of the room. Both of our secretaries were waiting for us. Do-hee went first with her manager, Ms. Haewon, while Wonwoo hyung and I went to our car.

While driving the car, he looked at me in the rearview mirror and said, "Mingyu, mind telling me what was going through your head when you told them that you're dating Ms. Do-hee even though you're not?" He looked so done with my stupidity.

"Ah, well. I just... I figured in the moment that denying the dating rumors would make things worse for both myself and Do-hee. I didn't want to cause a whole bunch of speculation and gossip, so I thought saying we were actually dating would be the best way to get the reporters to stop asking questions. I didn't think it would blow things out of proportion like this."
