"He was actually my first love."

"Oh no," I ignored his comment and continued.

"Xu Minghao, a transfer student who came from China for his father's job, was my seat partner. He was also my friend. During junior year in high school, we hit it off and had our first kiss under 'The Night We Met' by Lord Huron. I know it's a sad song, but it was coincidentally playing on the radio. Surprisingly, we also broke up while this song was playing in the background. He went back to China for further studies while I stayed here trying to pursue a career. Honestly, I knew that maybe if our circumstances had been different, we could have worked it out. But that's life. He was truly a good boyfriend."

After a moment of silence, he plucked the Lord Huron album 'Strange Trails' from my hands and put it back in the crate. "Okay, let's stay away from Lord Huron. I don't want you thinking about your ex in front of your present boyfriend." He pulled out a new vinyl and held it in the air. "What about The Smiths?"

"Too sad. Reminds me of (500) Days of Summer."

He frowned. "Isn't that supposed to be a good thing? That's a rom-com, isn't it?"

I gasped, a little outraged. "The first line of the movie is literally a warning that it's not a love story."

Mingyu chuckled and picked another one. "Elton John?"

I sighed and patted my chest. "Uh, I couldn't."

"Another sad soundtrack?"

My brows rose. "Can you think of Elton John without thinking of 'Your Song'? Of 'Moulin Rouge'?"

Mingyu frowned. "Wasn't that a—"

I turned my head very slowly and pinned him with a look. "The most beautiful yet heartbreaking movie ever made? Yes, it was."

He dropped the Elton John record back in its box with a snicker and whispered something I didn't catch.

I decided to ignore that as we continued browsing, something occurring to me. "I've told you about my first kiss. I think it's only fair you tell me about yours."

One corner of his lips tugged up. "My first kiss wasn't memorable in any way. I was in high school when I had my first kiss, just like you. Although it was sort of a bet, you could say. A girl in my class, Park Ji-hye, was my first crush and the first person I ever dated. Later on, I found out she'd been cheating behind my back, so we broke up eventually." Then suddenly he said, "Now, stop distracting me and get back to it, Do-hee. We're two embarrassing stories down and no soundtrack yet."

"Isn't that a collab song?" he asked on our way home from the store.

I huffed, staring down at the record in my hands. "Sort of, but this one is different."

"Different?" Snatching it out of my grip, he inspected it closely. "'Let Me Love You,' Junggigo x Chanyeol, the single." He turned the album around. "Isn't this a little too...ballad? Rather than a dance one?"

"It was either this or 'Love Poem' by IU, a classic song." The owner had been rushing us out of the store at closing time.

I continued, sliding him a skeptical look, "Have you not listened to 'Let Me Love You'? This song is phenomenal. The lyrics, the feelings, the emotions—everything. I don't know, it has always made me happy. It's more than a song you dance to."

"So, you're one of those people, huh?"

I narrowed my eyes, and I could tell he was trying hard not to smile. "What people?"
