I was happy to receive a bouquet from Do-hee earlier during my photoshoot. After finishing all my schedules, I headed to her place to shoot our planned couple video. As I parked in front of her house, I noticed the door was slightly open. Approaching cautiously, I heard screams. Worried, I hurried inside and found a middle-aged woman trying to hit Do-hee with a vase. Reacting swiftly, I grabbed her hand to prevent her from harming Do-hee further, positioning myself protectively between them. The woman struggled against my grip, but I stood firm, determined to shield Do-hee from any harm.

"Don't," I warned firmly, meeting her gaze. "Step away."

Reluctantly, I released her hand and took the vase from her, ensuring she couldn't threaten Do-hee again. She stared back at me, her throat visibly tense. "In fact," I continued, my voice low, "I suggest you leave."

The woman stared back but said nothing, her expression unsettlingly calm. Just as I started to move forward, ready to act, delicate fingers wrapped around my forearm, pulling at me. Ignoring it the first time, the second pull was harder to ignore.

'Stop. You're crossing a line. Back down.'

Reluctantly, I turned away and returned to Do-hee's side. "How uncivilized. Some boyfriend you have, Do-hee. He should at least have some manners for his girlfriend's mother," the woman muttered, visibly relieved.

'This woman... is Do-hee's mother? How could a mother try to harm her own daughter like that?'

I expected Do-hee to side with her, but instead, her grip tightened on my wrist, comforting me in a silent gesture. Without thinking, I turned my hand and clasped hers in mine. "There's nothing uncivilized about him. He treated you just the way you deserve," I heard Do-hee murmur defiantly. Her mother snorted dismissively.

"I think fame is getting to your head, Do-hee. Do I need to remind you how to behave?" Her mother moved forward, and I positioned myself protectively in front of Do-hee again. Her mother scoffed. "And you, Do-hee's new man. What are you thinking, dating a girl like Do-hee? Don't you care about your reputation? She's scandalous. I'm sure you're smart enough to leave her and let the mother-daughter duo stay in peace."

"I know enough about her to stay with her, even if you advise otherwise, Mrs. Do. With all due respect, please leave, or I'll have to take serious measures against you for harassing my girlfriend," I said, struggling to remain calm.

"Fine, fine. Don't say later that I didn't warn you. Do-hee, do your future boyfriends a favor and warn them about our family's issues, or they might get the wrong idea. I'll leave for now, but this isn't over," she concluded, heading towards the door. Do-hee stepped back, ending our contact. Still holding her hand, I guided her carefully to the kitchen counter, avoiding the broken items on the floor. I retrieved some ice cubes from her fridge, wrapping them in a cloth and gently applying them to her swollen and reddened cheek. She winced in pain. It must have stung. When I finally looked at her, she was staring up at the ceiling.

"Well, that was awful," she muttered quietly, hands on her waist. "And embarrassing."

I frowned. A noise must have escaped me, because Do-hee's attention snapped back to me. "Are you okay?"

'Was I?'

"Please tell me you're not planning to stay here," I pleaded.

She chewed her lip, avoiding my gaze. "You don't need to worry about me. Or babysit me."

"Do-hee," I sighed, incredulous. "I'm not babysitting you."

"I'm just your fake girlfriend," she murmured. "You've done enough. You let me stay with you, listened to my... issues, and even stood up to my abusive mother, which you really didn't need to do."
