Two years later,
Our love for each other had only grown stronger. However, life had thrown a challenge at us - I had been offered a leading role in an international film, which meant I had to go abroad for a 7-month shooting schedule. We were both excited for this new opportunity in my career, but we also knew the distance would be tough for our relationship. Nonetheless, we decided to take the leap and make the best out of the situation. During the first few months, we made sure to stay in touch as much as possible. Despite the time difference and our hectic schedules, we tried to talk on the phone or video call every day. It was hard not being able to see each other in person, but hearing and seeing each other's faces and voices helped us feel connected. We made an effort to share our lives with each other as much as possible by sending each other photos and videos throughout the day. Whether it was a stunning view during a break between scenes or a funny moment on set, we kept each other updated on our daily lives. It helped us feel like we were still a part of each other's worlds, even when we were miles apart. After several months of hard work and dedication, the filming for the film had finally come to an end. I was exhausted but exhilarated, having poured my heart and soul into the project. The final day of shooting was a mix of relief and nostalgia. I was happy and relieved, but also exhausted. As soon as I arrived back in Korea, I didn't even have time to rest before being whisked off to a celebration party hosted by the film crew. Despite my exhaustion, I tried to put on a happy face and celebrate with my team. We were at a restaurant, surrounded by my co-actors, directors, and other cast and crew members. Everyone was in a good mood, toasting and enjoying each other's company. I sat among them, trying to join in the festivities, but all I could think about was seeing Mingyu and finally reuniting after our long separation. As I sat at the party, sipping on a glass of champagne, I took out my phone and sent a text to Mingyu.
Hey, Gyu. I'm at the after party for the wrap of the film. They're serving alcohol and it looks like it's going to be a long night. I'll probably be drinking quite a lot, so I might be quite drunk later.
❤️My Gyu❤️
That's fine, love. Just make sure you have fun, but also stay safe. And let me know when you're about to leave, okay? I'll drive over to pick you up.
Got it, Gyu. And I'll definitely let you know when I'm leaving. I'll see you soon. Love you.
❤️My Gyu❤️
Take care, my love. See you soon. Love you too.
I smiled and put my phone away, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervous butterflies in my stomach. As the night wore on, the party continued to get livelier. More alcohol was consumed, and the conversations became louder and more animated. I was having a good time, but I could feel the alcohol starting to take its toll on me. My words were becoming slurred, and my head was starting to spin. As I was becoming more and more drunk, Haewon noticed and gently nudged me. She leaned in and said, "Hey, you seem pretty wasted already. Are you okay?" I nodded slightly, feeling the room spin a bit as I did. Haewon then added, "Do you want me to call Mingyu to come pick you up?"
I nodded again, my words slurring as I said, "Yeah, please. Call him. I wanna go home."
Haewon nodded and took out her phone, quickly calling Mingyu and explaining the situation. After a moment, she looked at me and said, "He's on his way now. He'll be here soon." I smiled in response, feeling a mix of relief and excitement. I couldn't wait to see Mingyu and to finally be outside and away from all the noise and alcohol. As we waited for him to arrive, Haewon stayed by my side, making sure I didn't wander off or do anything silly in my drunken state. It seemed like forever, but finally, we saw him entering the restaurant and making his way towards us.
