'Who would be coming at this hour?'

I stood up and went to open the door when I saw through the doorbell camera that it was my mother.

'Why did she have to come now?'

I had no choice but to open the door for her. She entered the house with a smug face. "Just saw you on the internet. I mean, it's impressive how a girl like you always has a way to climb up to the top again. Well, with a face and body like that, I'm sure it's no doubt, I guess. But then I saw the CEO. I must say, after all those shaggy guys, this one's a good catch. Try to leech off his money as much as you can. I'm sure you've got everything to offer him." She sneered at me from the couch. How could a mom make such a comment about her own daughter? Well, I'm not even surprised at this point, after all, she even tried to poison me.

I said rudely to her, "What do you want?"

She gasped at me and said, "Oh my, what's this behavior? That's not how you treat your mother. Don't forget that you wouldn't have been alive if it weren't for my mercy. You should be grateful and try to please me instead of getting on my nerves. I just want to tell you that you shouldn't let your scandals define you, my dear. I'm so proud of you for being given this opportunity. But don't forget where you came from and what I sacrificed for you to be here. So, don't let success get to your head." I scoffed at her fake enthusiasm.

"Like you cared."

"Fine, go ahead and act like I don't care about you. It's nothing new for you, I guess. I just thought you might appreciate my words of support. But I guess not. You never appreciate anything. It's like nothing's ever good enough for you." I rolled my eyes at her words.

"Let's be real for a second. You didn't come here to congratulate me on my success; you just want money from me."

"Now you got the point. I was really wondering how long your brain would take to realize what I'm here for. Don't act like I'm just some evil woman trying to take advantage of you. I am your mother, after all, and not only do you owe me, but I'm running out of money because you haven't been sending me anything. I need the money to survive, don't you understand that? Besides, you shouldn't be keeping all of your hard-earned money to yourself. It's only fair that I'm able to benefit from it too. After all, it was my money that helped pay for your schools and raising you."

"Mom, I've already given you a lot of money. And I've helped you out of so many difficult situations. You are asking for too much here. Please stop asking for more money."

"Oh, don't pretend like you don't have plenty more money to give me. You're making big money now; you can easily spare some for me. Don't act like I haven't given you anything. So, you can spare some of that big money for your own mother. You still owe me for all those years when I looked out for you. I'm sure you wouldn't want others to know that I'm your mother, right?" I was very irritated by her manipulative tactics. There's no way I'll give more money to her, as I'm already tired of her constant requests for money.

Trying not to lose my temper, I said, "Mom, please stop this. You're acting as if I owe you my whole life. Just because I'm making good money now doesn't mean I have to give it all to you. I already send you enough money." Suddenly, she stood up and slapped me hard. I flinched and raised a hand to my face, shocked to be hit by my own mother. I looked back at her, a mixture of pain and anger in my eyes.

"You ungrateful little brat. No matter how much money you send me, it'll never be enough. I've raised you on my own ever since your father left, and you have the audacity to act like I'm some villain just for asking you for some support once in a while. Do you actually think I don't deserve the money? Who do you think you are? After all that I've done for you, all the sacrifices I've made, you still dare to disobey me? You're only as successful as you are because of me. I will never stop asking for money, and you will give it to me if you want to keep your pretty little face. Now, are you going to give me the money I deserve, or else I might have to do something you'll really regret." I felt extremely overwhelmed by her aggressive behavior. I wanted to shout at her, but I also knew that I couldn't lose my temper in front of her or the situation would get out of hand. I haven't had a great relationship with my mother throughout my life, and the fact that I have to send her money each month makes it even tougher for me.
