A few minutes later, Wonwoo hyung led Do-hee's mother into my office. She looked angry, her face contorted with a scowl. I could see the anger and frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

"You!" she exclaimed, pointing a finger at me. "You're the one who published that ridiculous article about me, aren't you?"

I met her gaze firmly, refusing to be intimidated by her aggressive attitude. "Yes," I replied calmly. "I did publish that article, and I stand by every word of it. I warned you beforehand that if you didn't cooperate and tell us who's working with you, I would take matters into my own hands."

Do-hee's mother's eyes flared with anger at my response. She clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white with rage. "How dare you!" she exclaimed, her voice rising. "How dare you publish those lies about me! I am her mother. I did everything for her, and this is how she repays me? By letting strangers like you meddle in our affairs?"

"Everything?" I repeated, my voice laced with disbelief. I looked at her, my expression cold and measured. "You call what you did 'everything'? You call emotional and physical abuse towards your daughter everything? You call manipulating and controlling her life everything?"

Do-hee's mother bristled at my accusation, her face reddening with anger. "How dare you accuse me of such things!" she snapped. "I have never abused Do-hee! I raised her, I clothed her, I provided for her. I sacrificed everything for her! She should be grateful!"

"Grateful?" I echoed incredulously. "You think she should be grateful for the emotional trauma and physical scars you inflicted on her? You think she should be grateful for the years of manipulation and control you exerted over her life? What you did is not parenting—it's abuse. You can deny it all you want, but the truth is out now. So your choice is simple: tell me with whom you're working, or face the consequences. And trust me when I say I won't make it easy for you to be released any time soon."

Do-hee's mother's expression shifted from anger to fear as I spoke. She clenched her jaw, attempting to maintain her composure, but I could see the tremors in her hands. "You have no idea what you're talking about," she said through gritted teeth. "I did what I had to do. Do-hee is my daughter, and I have every right to shape her future."

I could see her struggling to maintain her facade, her resolve weakening under my unflinching gaze. "Shape her future?" I repeated, my voice laced with disbelief. "That's a strange way to describe emotional and physical abuse. And let's not forget the years of manipulation and control you inflicted on her. And who are you trying to protect?" I added, my voice harsh. "The person who's clearly not showing any loyalty towards you. The person who's willing to throw you under the bus to save themselves. Do you think they'll help you now that you're in trouble?"

Do-hee's mother flinched at my words, her resolve wavering even further. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She looked more angry and frustrated, but fear showed in her eyes. "They... they promised..." she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"They promised you what?" I pressed, my voice growing increasingly stern. "That they'll protect you? That they'll keep you safe from the consequences of your actions? That they'll stand by you when the truth comes out?" I leaned forward, my gaze never wavering from hers. "Well, news flash: they lied. They'll abandon you in a heartbeat the moment things get tough. That's how it always works."

Do-hee's mother's face paled, the color draining from her cheeks. She knew deep down that what I was saying was true. "They... they can't abandon me," she said, her voice quivering. "I have too much information on them. They need me."

I raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on my lips. "They need you? That's what you think?" I chuckled dryly, my expression filled with contempt. "Let me guess. You have some dirt on them, some secret knowledge they don't want to get out. You think that gives you power, that makes them indebted to you. But the truth is, they don't give a damn about you. You're useful to them as long as you keep your mouth shut. The moment you become a liability, they'll cut you loose without a second thought. If you don't believe me, then try calling them. Let's see whether they actually pick up your call." I challenged.
