Chapter Nine

Tristan's POV

I sat perched on the edge of my bed while Teagan was busy talking to me. I set myself in a screen saver mode as I stared at her nonchalantly, my mind drifting off to my mate.

That pair of cold eyes which I had seen was unforgettable.

It was as though she was trying her hardest to avoid me, and I didn't know why our relationship had gotten so strained. Sure, we talked. But this time, she would just give me a glance and that's it.

Her attention to me would come to a stop.

I can't fathom what was on her mind. I had to clear any misunderstandings between us before things get worse. Imagine if she had come of age, wouldn't she hate me because of the fact that I was her mate?

I seriously didn't want things to get ugly than it already has.

I sighed, taking in a deep breath as I glanced away from Teagan and checked the time on my digital clock. In five minutes time, I would be meeting Arielle to clear things with her.

As much as I felt guilt sinking in when I had used Tracy to help me call Arielle out, but I had to. It was my only resort to clear any misunderstandings between us and mend our strained relationship.

I want her two weeks spent in my pack to be filled with memories of me, and not painful ones. At least, when I meet her again four years later, she wouldn't hate me so much.

As for the wait, I would just have to wear my big boy pants and suck it up.

"Tristan!" Teagan's voice rang in my ears for the third time as she tried to get my attention. "What?" I turned to her, my brows furrowing in annoyance.

"Were you listening to me?" She huffed. She had her hands on her hips as she glared at me. "Please don't tell me that you had just blanked out while I was talking."

I gave her a nonchalant shrug and parted my lips to stop her blabbering. "I need some time alone, Teagan. Get out now."

She folded her arms and stormed out of my room. I rolled my eyes at her immature gesture. At least, my mate was different than her. She wouldn't get mad without an unknown reason.

I stood up, straightening down my button up as I made my way down to the porch.

Halfway through, I accidentally collided against a small figure as tingles shot through my arms when I tried to catch her from falling backwards.

Her fingers curled around my wrist as she looked at me, astonished. When she noticed the position we were in, she rested her hands on my chest and pushed me backwards.

"Arielle, are you okay?" I asked, my deep breath fanning her face as I bent down slightly to check if she was hurt anywhere. I noticed her swallowing her saliva as she took a step back, waving her hands at me.

"I'm fine." She mumbled, her cheeks turning bright red as she turned around. Her legs began to move and she walked down the hallways until she was out of my sight.

I smirked. She had just blushed.

Tucking my hands into my pockets, I hummed a little tune as I began to walked down the hallways, heading to where she was going to.

She seemed to have noticed my presence behind her as she quickened her footsteps until she had reached the porch. I followed after her and closed the front door before she could.

"T-Tristan..." She trailed off, shocked at the sight of me. "What are you doing here?" She asked, taking a step back when I moved closer.

I felt as though my heart was torn into pieces when I could sense her fear. What had I done to make her so afraid of me? What the f*ck did I do to make her feel that way?

"Are you afraid of me, Arielle? Or did I do something to make you feel uncomfortable around me?" Her eyes found mine upon my words as she bit her lip nervously.

Her eyes lowered to the ground as she gritted her teeth. "Who said I was afraid of you? You are not even the size of a giant." She rebutted firmly, though I could sense that she was trying to put up a strong front.

Playing along with her, I parted my lips as I moved closer to her. "Are you sure you aren't afraid of me? Or are you too attracted to me?" I smirked.

Her eyes went wide, literally bulging out of her sockets at my words as she shivered slightly. "Don't be too full of yourself, big guy. I am not attracted to you." She said, poking my chest as she used the same nickname on me.

I narrowed my eyes on her playfully, as though looking into her eyes to see if she was lying to me. The constant flickering of her pupils told me that she was indeed lying. "Liar." Her eyes widened as she mumbled a 'what'.

"You are attracted to me."

"No, I'm not." She shook her head firmly as she folded her arms.

Out of instinct, I wrapped my arms around her shoulders as I pulled her down with me. She let out a gasp as she tried struggling from my grasp. "Let me go." She hissed, glaring at me.

"Not until you tell me that you are attracted to me." I stifled a small laugh as she poked my sides.

Her pokes went to a stop as she turned away. "I can't." She said. I could easily sense that she was upset. "What's wrong, sugar?" At my words, she continued to keep her eyes on the tiles as she stepped on it lightly.

"You have a girlfriend." Her tone was as though reminding me that what we were doing was wrong. My eyes widened at her words. Since when did I have a girlfriend that I didn't know?

"What are you talking about? Since when did I have a girlfriend?" I asked in a bemused expression, arching my brow at her. She turned to me and scoffed. "Stop lying through your teeth, asshole. Teagan is your girlfriend, isn't she?"

She squirmed out of my hold and jumped to her feet. Glaring down at me, I looked at her, confused before clenching onto my stomach as I laughed in realisation. She had misunderstood that Teagan was my girlfriend when she was my sister.

"What are you laughing about?" She half whispered, half screamed at my face as she gritted her teeth in anger. I took a few minutes to calm down as I stared at her.

"Silly, she is not my girlfriend."

"Then who is she?" She snorted, folding her arms unconvincingly.

"She is my younger sister."
