Chapter Eleven

Arielle's POV

Tristan's first instinct was to shove my little body behind him as he growled at the four figures. They were huge, might I add. We were literally outnumbered.

One against four. That was so not fair.

My eyes widened as he kicked the first one, sending him crashing against the nearest tree. One down. Three more to go. I watched in anticipation as Tristan kicked their butts and ripped off their heads.

It felt as though it was a boxing match with ninja skills. Nice combination. What was I thinking? We were practically in danger and I was still thinking about boxers and ninjas.

Great to go, Arielle. I mentally rolled my eyes at myself.

My body tensed as I felt a presence behind me. I turned around to see a figure lurking in the shadows before he pounced on me. I tried to get him off my body as I screamed for help.

His canines grew as though he was about to rip off my head when he was pulled away from my body. I sat up and pulled down my maxi skirt as I watched Tristan fought off the big baddie.

I winced when he sunk his claws against Tristan's left arm before his head was ripped off. Like the leader, he rose from his crouching position and let his eyes scan around the surroundings before they landed on me.

His eyes softened as he rushed towards me and hugged me. Stroking my hair, I felt his head nuzzled in the crook of my neck. I let him do that since that must be his way of calming down.

Mom mentioned before that dad always loved to do that whenever they were alone. Perhaps, that was dad's way of calming down.

I didn't realise that the sun had set when I started to panic. "Tristan, we need to go." I mumbled as I ruffled his hair. He pulled away and nodded as he winced when he moved his arm.

My eyes literally bulged out of its sockets when I realised that his wound was infected. My brother had taught me before that a special type of herb could treat it. And it speeds up healing.

Looking up, I watched as he began to sweat profusely as though he was in pain. "Come on, Tristan. Let's find shelter instead." I said, trying to pull him with me.

"It's alright, sugar. We should head back." He mumbled as he winced at the pain. "Oh, come on. Don't be so stubborn. Your wound is infected and the pack house is quite a long distance away."

And with that, I pulled him by his uninjured arm and led him along with me, ignoring his stubborn protests. I found a cave nearby and we got in.

I made him sit down as I mumbled a 'I will be back'. Before he could stop me, I was already treading along the grasses and finding twigs and branches.

Bringing a heap of them back to the cave, I began to make a fire which my brother had taught me before he left for Alpha's training. I wondered when he would be back.

I let my hands warm under the fire and made sure Tristan had enough warmth. He looked pale as I noticed that the infection was already affecting him.

I stood up again and was about to leave when he stopped me. "Where are you going?" He asked, though I could sense that he was in pain. I turned around and grinned.

"To get the herb to treat your infection." I muttered under my breath as I began to walk out of the cave. "Be safe." Those two words rang in my ears before the sound of the waves hit my ears.

My hands weaved past the tall grasses as I walked further into the forests. It was eerily creepy. But for the sake of Tristan, I had to find it. Thorns grazed across my maxi skirt as I heard tearing sounds.

Ugh, that was my favorite skirt.

I continued to search for the herb through the darkness as I found it at the top of the pile of rocks. Oh man, I had to climb. Just as I was about to climb, droplets splattered on my nose as I realised that it was raining.

The weather was certainly trying to kill me.

I began to climb up the rocks carefully since it was raining and there was lesser friction. As much as I knew that what I was doing could land myself in danger, but I knew that getting the herb to Tristan was my top priority.

All I know was that I can't lose him.

Grabbing onto the rocks for support, I climbed onto one after another and finally reached the top without slipping. My fingers curled around the herb and pulled it out of the soil as I began to climb down.

It took me ages to reach the cave and Tristan was sleeping soundly. I found a rock somewhere and soaked it under the rain before running back in.

Sitting down beside him, I began to grind the rock against the herb, cutting it into smaller pieces. My eyes noticed my maxi skirt as I blew in a deep breath and tore the cloth.

It was my favorite skirt. But I had to do this for Tristan.

The tearing sounds seemed to have woke him up as I could feel his stare on me. "Give me your arm." I said, not looking up as I wrapped the cloth around his arm tightly, pressing the herb against his wound as tightly as possible.

"Who taught you this?" He asked while I tilted my head up and grinned cheekily. "My older brother." I smiled, stifling a yawn as I felt his arms pull me closer to him.

Not caring whether I was drenched from head-to-toe, I snuggled against his warm body and felt myself basking into his scent. He smelled nice. Before long, I was too tired to peek my eyes open and felt myself dozing off with something warm caressing my cheeks.
