Chapter Seventeen

Arielle's POV

A knock on the door woke me up as I slowly sat up, rubbing the nape of my neck. Rubbing my eyes, I scanned the time on the clock hung against the wall. I looked towards the two sleeping faces before the pounding on the door continued again.

I got up and was about to answer the door when I realised that I was only in my pink bra and underwear, since last night was so humid that we had taken off our clothes. I quickly grabbed a silk robe from Teagan's closet before rushing towards the door.

Luna Betty stood by the doorway with a worried look before heaving a sigh of relief when she noticed me. "Thank goodness that you were sleeping with Teagan and Tracy last night. Your parents were so worried that you might be missing that we nearly had to gather the entire pack to search for you, Arielle."

I felt my cheeks flushed in embarrassment that I had actually forgot to let mom and dad know. It was all my fault for causing so much trouble.

I rubbed the nape of my neck in awkwardness as I apologised meekly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to cause so much trouble."

She patted my head fondly and smiled down at me. "It's alright, dear. Everything's fine now." She said, before peeping into the room as her eyes rested on the two sleeping bears.

"I see that you girls had a sleepover last night," She paused, her eyes scanning around the room. "Come down for breakfast in an hour's time, okay?"

I nodded, mumbling an 'okay' in reply before she left.

Turning back to the room, I stared at the mess we had created last night. Sighing in defeat, I began to clean up the room, giggling to myself silently when I caught sight of Teagan's Minnie mouse blouse laid somewhere on the floor.

To think she had kept a Minnie mouse blouse in her room. I mentally laughed at the thought.

"Arielle bear?" I whipped my head around to see Teagan staring at me with her eyelids halfway closed. She stifled a small yawn and slowly adjusted her eyes until they were staring at me with wide ones.

Her eyes rested on the Minnie mouse blouse in between my fingers and covered her mouth in shock. "How did you---" I cut her off, throwing the blouse in her direction.

"Found it on the floor, duh." I stated the obvious, bending down to pick up strewn clothes and bits and pieces.

By the time I had finished cleaning up the whole room, Tracy and Teagan had washed up and we were good to go for breakfast.

The three of us walked down the stairs with confidence after pampering ourselves last night. I hate to admit but it was kind of fun.

The moment I had entered the kitchen, all heads snapped towards our direction while some of the unmated males were shooting me lustful looks.

I looked down at what I was wearing and noticed that I was wearing Teagan's silk robe.

Before I could respond, a growl erupted from the head of the table. I looked up to see Tristan with clenched jaws as he glared at the unmated wolves.

His eyes were red in anger as he gritted his teeth and made his way towards me. Grabbing my wrist, I felt a tug before I was pulled along with him as I followed after him in silence.

He was angry. Though I didn't know what I had done, but I didn't want to make things worse. An angry Alpha was not one to be messed with, especially with this soon-to-be Alpha whose anger was evident all over his face. That's what my dad told me in the past even though I had Alpha blood flowing in my body.

But mom wasn't an Alpha-born so I wasn't from a pure Alpha bloodline. Confusing like ever, but who cares. Anyways, I wasn't going to be the one taking over the pack, so it was none of my business.

I just had to keep myself away from trouble by not getting under Tristan's skin.

I was pulled into my bedroom as he closed the door behind him. I stood, both feet rooted to the ground as I watched him struggling with his wolf as they switched between pitch black to its usual colors a couple of times.

I rested my hand on his arm, waving my hand in front of his face. "Hello from the other side." I sang, reminded of the song, 'Hello' by Adele.

His eyes softened as his jaws stopped clenching, his teeth stopped gritting. Most importantly, his anger was gone with his eyes fully turning back to its usual colors.

What the hell just happened?

"Tristan?" My soft voice snapped him out of his daze as he stared at me with creased brows. Folding his arms, he hardened his gaze as he looked at me.

"Change into something more decent."

I frowned, planting my hands on my hips. "And why should I do that?"

Tristan's POV

"And why should I do that?" She asked, practically fuming right now. Indignant, puzzled, anger were expressed from her eyes as I inwardly groaned.

I had nearly lost my control and almost did something that I would regret forever. She was too young to know all of these. I shouldn't even think about marking her as mine right now.

What the f*ck was I thinking?

I closed my eyes and opened them again to see her eyes staring back at mine with her eyebrows creased with confusion. I pinched the bridge of my nose, shaking my head.

"Just change." Before I lose my control.

She huffed upon my response, looking away. "Why must I even listen to you?" She retorted stubbornly. Because if you don't, my wolf will surface and mark you.

"Arielle, just listen to me---" I was cut off by a gentle push as I stared hard at her furious expression. Tears wetted her cheeks as she glared at me.

"Stop confusing my mind, you idiot. You are not even my mate, why do you keep acting as if you are one?" She screamed at my face while pushing me out of her room.

Her words stung. Like as if my heart has been torn into million of pieces.

But yet, I couldn't bring myself to tell her. The fear of watching her suffer in pain for not being able to see me again for another four years was eating away my conscience.

I can't tell her yet. I would rather suffer the pain of not having her by my side for the next four years than to let her suffer in pain along with me.

The door slammed in front of my face, tears brimming on my tear ducts unconsciously.

Wait for me, Arielle.
