Chapter Fifty-Two

Arielle's POV

I was unstoppable now. The loss, pain, sadness and anger had turned me into a monster.

A voice I knew too well halted me from moving.

"If you kill him, there will be no way to undo this. You will fail your test and you will be cursed for your sins." As she said this, I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.

My heart clenched tightly as I looked over to my father who died in my arms, my mom had somehow appeared and was weeping next to my dad, her teary eyes looking up at me pleadingly as though she didn't want me to do it, despite not knowing my predicament.

Fiona was shaking her head as she sat next to her mate, her hands keeping up with the shield to stop me from moving. I could see that she was trying her best to hold up the shield to give me some time to think.

My eyes finally flickered over to Tristan who was staring at me, silently shaking his head. "Don't do it, babe." His voice calmed me down slightly, tears welling up as I clenched my fists tightly.

Fiona is right.. If I kill Dion, I will fail the test and won't be able to start a new life with my mate. I want all of that and I only have one chance, I can't ruin this.

I can't ruin things now, not when I have been working so hard to control my powers for the past weeks.

A huge sigh released from my lips as my shoulders sagged slightly, a thought suddenly appeared through my head. A while ago before I was about to kill the 7th Prince, Fiona told me I couldn't kill him.

But she had mentioned that anyone can do it, except for me.

A smirk tugged on my lips instead as I looked towards Fiona with a knowing look. "Since you said I can't kill him, would you do me the honor of ending his wretched life instead?"

In a flash, her shield disappeared and her face mirrored my smirk instead.

She stood up from the ground, slowly inching her way towards Dion who was still trapped in my ring of flames. "I am sure my flames have done a pretty good job locking him in his place. Once we are done, we can deal with Wind next."

Fear escaped from Dion as he looked between the both of us, his jaws hanging with shock.

"Wait, wait. What is going on?" He asked, sounding terrified as he slowly moved backwards, only to be burnt slightly by my flames. He jumped in fright and hurriedly dusted away the flames to get it off his slightly ripped jeans during the shift.

"Ouch." Was all he managed to spit out as his eyes focused on the flames.

By the time he had gotten it extinguished, his fearful eyes were back to us. The man who fearlessly killed my dad was now shaking in fear in front of us.

What an irony.

I looked over to a smirking Fiona who had her hands wielding in the air, her lips moved on its own as she chanted a string of words.

All of a sudden, the clouds in the sky had stopped moving. Replaced by dark clouds, the sky grew darker as each second passed. A bunch of dark clouds had gathered towards a shivering Dion as a drop of rain landed on his cheek.

She wielded her hand, allowing a portal to open from the sky as the 7th Prince dropped to the ground with a huge thud. I loosened the flames binding his body as it disappeared.

Their eyes stared at us with fear, unknown that the time is ripe and they would suffer an tragic death.

My fists were clenched as I watched Fiona chanting again. She curled her right palm into a fist, letting it drop by her sides. Thunder shook the earth as the two cowards trapped in the ring of flames jumped slightly at the thunderous noise.

By now, my flames has been extinguished by the drops of rain. My hair soon became drenched as the rain became heavier and heavier.

They took it as an opportunity to run which didn't last long as the next thing they knew, the clouds hanging above them had strike them with a bolt of lightning.

It wasn't a small one, instead it was powerful. It was strong enough to end their lives in front of everyone with an instant blow.

I watched silently as they dropped to the ground, their soul leaving their eyes without hesitation. Usually, when a man is killed, it would take him a while for his soul to leave his body once his heart stopped beating.

However for them, it only took a few seconds of the bolt of lightning to take away their evil souls away from their body, without even waiting for their heart to stop beating.

My eyes blinked rapidly, it was as though the heavy burden has finally been gone as my shoulders sagged in relief.

My eyes then flickered up to the sky as a certain bright cloud was formed in the midst of the dark clouds summoned by Fiona. Light shone from the cloud, blinding my eyesight as I squinted my eyes slowly.

"They are here." Fiona whispered from beside me, her eyes had a certain twinkle in them.

Three men dressed in black robes with white satin silks binding their waists slowly descended from the cloud, their white eyes which held admiration were looking at us.

Something tells me that they are not mortals like us, probably the ones who knew about my test and are here to bring us back. "Arielle Bradford and Fiona Matthews, both of you are summoned to come back with us to the court to have your fates determined. You are each granted five minutes to reunite with your family before you proceed to the underworld with us."

We both nodded as I held onto Fiona's hands tightly, she was nervous just as I am about the results. Our eyes instinctively diverted over to our respective mates as we are unsure if this will be the last time we will be seeing them.

I let go of Fiona's hands as I advanced forward to my mate who was silently watching me this whole time, his eyes held confusion in them.

I wrapped my arms around his waist, selfishly wanting him to remember me for life even if I wouldn't be able to come back. This may be the path of no return if the panel have decided not to let me come back and restart my life with Tristan, my mate.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I admired my mate's face, memorizing every detail from his furrowed brows to his chiseled jaws.

I parted my lips to speak, "If I won't be able to come back, promise me that you will take care of my family for me." I whispered in his ears, I could feel his arms around my waist tightened incredibly at my words.

"Where are you going, sugar? Why are you saying like you wouldn't come back anymore?" He asked, his voice held confusion and hurt in them as I knew he wanted to know what was going on.

"I can't afford to tell you now, I have to go soon. Just know that I love you and I don't want to leave you." With my last words escaping from my lips, I leaned in and kissed him tenderly.

I could feel a hot tear running down his cheek as he responded to the kiss, embracing me in a hug which I have no idea if it would be the last.

All I know that where I would be going to a place where my fate would be determined if I was going to come back to my mate or if I am going to go somewhere else and never return back.

I love you, Tristan.
