Chapter Thirty-Seven
Tristan's POV
"What do you mean she disappeared without a trace?" I demanded, clenching my fists in anger as I still can't believe that my mate had went missing despite being inside a protected building.
I had made sure no one else other than the female guards were stationed within this area.
"We sincerely apologise for the sudden news, but please calm down." The director calmly spoke while I was in a rage, my wolf was unstable as well. He was furious at the thought that someone had dared to take our mate away.
If anything happen to her, I will kill whoever who had done it.
"Then find her now!" I roared, my eyes turning pitch black in rage. I couldn't control my raging wolf as he was about to rip everyone in this room apart.
The director kept her cool though I could sense she was afraid of me, and replied, "We have sent out a search party and combed throughout the building, but have found no trace of the Luna."
I closed my eyes and calmed myself and my wolf down.
"We believe that she may have escaped or taken away from this building. We are still in the process of checking through the movement records."
"By the time you have found the answer, god knows where my mate would have gone." I growled.
"That's it, I'm finding her on my own."

I trudged past the building and sniffed in the air as I tried to capture my mate's scent. A strong scent was coming from the backyard. She must have been there a few hours ago.
I followed where the scent led me to, my heart beating fast as I prayed that she was in safe hands. She have to be alright, otherwise I would be in guilt for the rest of my life.
After walking past multiple trees, I came to a halt as her scent vanished. Her strong scent led me to this spot and vanished without a trace.
What is happening?
"Alpha, why did you stopped?" Lance asked, staring at me with curiosity. "Her scent led me to this spot and vanished, there are no more traces of her."
His eyes suddenly widened. "Sorcery." He whispered, shaking his head at disbelief.
"What do you know about it?"
"My grandmother once told me that she has seen a woman in a black cloak who seems to possess the power to teleport. She saw the woman twice in her life, once was when she was a young girl and the last was when she was mourning over the loss of grandfather. And, she mentioned that the woman's appearance did not change at all."
This immediately caught my attention, there's a possibility that the vanished scent of my mate and her disappearance from the building is related to her. "Where did she see her?"
"In this forest." I breathed heavily, slowly gathering my thoughts.
"Alpha, what do we do now?"
"Let's give your grandmother a visit."

"Come on in." Penny welcomed us warmly. She set aside the book she was reading and gestured towards the sofa. I sat down, followed by Lance.
A young woman who was probably Lance's sister entered the room with a tray of drinks. She bowed to me out of respect and set the drinks down on the table.
"What brings you here, Alpha?" She smiled, her wrinkles showing. Her eyes lit up in joy as she was delighted to have guests today.
"Grandma, do you still remember the woman in a black cloak?" Lance asked.
Her face displayed recognition as she nodded gently. "Yes, I do remember the mysterious woman."
"Please tell us how you encountered her in detail, this information is important." I spoke, determined to find that woman. Once I find her, I will be able to know my mate's whereabouts.
"I'm sure you came to know about it through my grandson. Well, I will start from the beginning."
When I was 7, I was playing in the backyard of the old house. My ball rolled out of the backyard, towards the forest. Despite my mom warning me the dangers of going into the forest, I did not listen to her as I wanted to get back my ball. I ran after the ball which led me deeper and deeper to the forest. It finally stopped when it hit a tree. I picked it up and heard whispers. Hiding behind the tree, I saw a woman in a black cloak whispering some words and waved her hands in the air. Nothing came out at first. She sighed and tried again for the second time. This time, a portal opened in thin air. She entered it and the portal slowly closed. I could remember her face very clearly, it left a huge impression on me.
Many years later, my mate died. I was mourning over the loss and broke down. After the burial, I decided to take a walk by myself and wandered around the forest. I managed to see the same woman for the second time. She was wearing the same black cloak and she looked the same like 40 years ago. I have no idea how her youth and beauty remained even after so long, but I figured out that she was a sorcerer since she was able to teleport. I walked towards her which caught her attention. "Who are you?" I asked her, while having hiccups as I was crying over the loss. She turned around and made sure her back faced me which was very mysterious. She did not answer but all she said was, "I am someone who shouldn't exist here, please forget what you see today." This time she did not opened a port like 40 years ago, instead she walked off with silent footsteps. I followed after her and she was gone in a flash. She was able to teleport and vanish in thin air.
"That was the last time I have encountered her. I don't see her in the forests anymore when I take my strolls there with my granddaughter."
My phone suddenly rang as I picked it up. "Alpha, we have a guard who witnessed a woman in a black cloak taking away the Luna while they were alone in the backyard."
I pinched my nose bridge at the news. "What happened, Alpha?"
"There's a guard who saw that woman taking away my mate."
"Do not fret, Alpha. That woman doesn't seem to harm people. I have an instinct that the woman and your mate have unfinished business to settle." At her words, I looked up.
"What do you mean she has unfinished business to settle with my mate? My mate has done nothing wrong." I frowned deeply, the living room suddenly became very quiet.
"Please calm down, Alpha. We are all worried for the Luna. But, the woman did not silence me when I saw her. If she had ill intentions, she would have killed me the moment I talked to her. Instead, she wanted me to forget about the encounter and disappeared,"
"She may seem harmless, but it is a fact that my mate is with her right now." I clenched my fists and banged the table in frustration.
