Chapter Thirty-One

Arielle's POV

When I had woken up, it was already afternoon. How long have I slept in? My eyes wandered around the room as I slowly sat up, stretching my limbs.

"Tristan?" I tried out the link between us, hoping for some form of response. To my surprise, there was none. What the hell was he doing right now?

Still in the fresh pjs which I assumed that he has changed for me, I walked down the stairs as terrified eyes looked up at me. The pack members bowed upon noticing me, some shivering in fear.

Still lost as to why they had reacted that way, I looked behind me to see that there was nothing. I looked down at what I was wearing, not spotting any blood.

Why were they terrified upon seeing me?

Oh wait, did something happened to my mate? Flustering, my eyes wandered around the foyer as I tried to navigate my way out of here, hoping to find his scent which might lead me to him.

"Luna, please follow me." A small girl's voice snapped me out of my reverie as she tugged my hand and dragged me away from the foyer.

Her petite feet thumped down the aisle as she led me deeper and deeper to the end of the hallway. "Where are we going?" I can't help but to ask, hoping that this little girl knows what she was doing.

"To the Alpha. There's trouble." Her shrill voice panicked as we finally reached a wide door. She looked up at me, pointing at the door itself.

I released her hand from mine and curled my fingers around the door knob. As I opened it, I was met with a gruesome sight. Tristan was punching the shit out of Lance who allowed him to do so with no emotions at all.

"Stop, stop." I yelled, shocked that the devastated voice belonged to me. Words can't describe how disappointed I was that my mate would beat his own Beta.

Even if he did something wrong, he shouldn't have resorted to violence.

His actions ceased to a stop as he turned around instantly. My eyes rested on his Beta who was badly beaten and bruised as blood trickled down one side of his face.

"What the hell were you doing?" I demanded, clenching my fists in anger as I stared hard at my mate. What I was seeing now was no longer what my memories of him were.

He was now a monster.

"Look listen, babe-" He said, moving towards me while I took a step back in response. Hurt flickered across his eyes instantly. "You are now a monster, Tristan. I can't believe that you would do this to your own Beta." I stated with disappointment, shaking my head as I ran out of this place, dragging the little girl along with me.

The last thing I wanted was for him to mistreat any of his pack members.

I crashed onto the bed, sobbing as the sight continued to haunt me. Even after it was over, the image of my mate beating the shit out of his Beta still flashed across my mind.

And worst of all, Lance allowed him to do so. What the hell was he thinking?

"Luna." The little girl whispered, trying to get my attention. I wiped away my tears and looked up, staring at the little girl as she stroke my hair.

"My mama would always do this when I am crying. Please don't cry anymore." I smiled, nodding at her words as I pulled her into my arms. "Thank you." I whispered, closing my eyes briefly.

After she returned back to her mom's side, I looked down at my trembling hands. I don't think I could ever stand being in this place any longer, I am going back to my pack for the time being.

Standing up, I took out my luggage and began packing all the clothes and necessities. "What are you doing?" Tristan's voice rang in my ears. I continued packing, ignoring him until his hands stopped me.

I flinched slightly, moving to the side as I stared at him coldly. He clenched his fists by his sides, looking down at me. "Are you leaving me?" He demanded, eyes hardening in anger.

I turned back to the next set of clothes and packed it inside my luggage. "I am moving back to my pack temporarily. I just need a break that's all." I murmured, zipping up my luggage.

I felt arms circled my waist as I tensed immediately. "Tristan..." I trailed off, grasping onto his conjoined hands.

"Please don't leave me."

I gulped, shaking my head. "It's best if we separate for a while." I sighed, removing his hands from my waist. I held onto the handle and began dragging the luggage along with me.

My heart sunk heavily with each footsteps I took to leave this place.
