Chapter Twenty-Six

Arielle's POV

"Your mate? H-How is that possible?" He blurted out, his eyes widening in shock while I merely snorted. "Come on dumbass, the scent you found in me belongs to my mate. You can't be that dense, are you?"

He turned his head towards me with defeat written all over his attractive face. I admit that he had the looks, but he was just plain annoying.

A punch was thrown at his face, leaving a huge bruise on his right eye. "If you even dare to touch or steal a glance of my mate, be prepared to die in my hands, got it?" He growled, snarling at him as though he was the prey.

Romeo gulped, quickly nodding his head before making his quick escape. I laughed, shaking my head at the sight. My words fell on his death ears, yet his words were enough for him to scramble away.

What's that? The power of an Alpha?

A grunt made my head immediately whipped towards my mate who was still glaring in the direction where he left. He looked towards me and pulled his brows together into a frown.

"Has he been pestering you like this?" He demanded, his breathing hastening. I shrugged it off as if it was nothing and muttered under my breath, "You wouldn't believe that he has been doing this for years. He never gives up."

"Screw this sh*t, I am going to kill him." He roared, slowly walking off when I stopped him in time from doing anything stupid. At this moment, I could feel his anger. He was enraged by that idiot.

Oh sh*t.

He looked down at me with a skeptical look. "What are you doing?" I rolled my eyes in response and wrapped my arms around his nape.

"Stopping you from doing something stupid, of course." I replied, leaning in as I kissed his lips. In an instant, his arms snaked itself around my waist, closing the proximity between us.

I moaned into his mouth, savoring the taste of his lips against mine. It was until I felt the taste of blood did I broke away from the kiss.

My eyes landed on his split lips as I gasped. "What happened to your lips?" I asked, breathing heavily as I brushed my thumb across his split lips tenderly.

"Nothing's wrong, babe. I accidentally fell down."

"If I ever believed you, I would be really dumb," I retorted, rolling my eyes. "Now, spill." I stated, looking at him sternly while he sighed.

"It's my brother, isn't it?" I asked, obviously knowing who the culprit was without needing a second guess. That idiot just had to make things worse.

What's wrong with Tristan being my mate?

He held onto each side of my face, smiling down at me. "Look, it's really fine. Your brother is just being worried for you." I leaned into his touch and murmured, "But, he has no rights to do that."

"Listen to me for once and don't act rashly, babe." He said, locking lips with mine. I groaned, knowing that he always had this effect on me.

His touch, his kisses always makes me melt in his arms. Oh god.

Arranging the cushions on the couches, I wiped off my sweat as I looked towards the clock, only to notice that my shift was coming to an end in a few minute's time.

Oh god, time flies so fast.

The bell rang, signaling that someone entered the store as I looked up with a smile. "Welcome." I hollered, stacking the magazines in my hands as I turned around.

My eyes went wide at the sight. My mate was standing near the doorway, looking towards me with a million dollar smile which could make any women swoon at the sight.

I let my eyes rest on the new hairstyle he had gotten. What was that? He was pursuing the latest trend as well?

He approached me with confidence, ignoring the looks that he was given by other women who were already drooling over my mate. I resisted the urge to growl at them to stop looking since it would scare them away, yet I can't help but to feel that way.

What was that? Possessiveness? "Damn right." Nat agreed, wagging her tail.

"Why did you drop by?" I asked with brows raised, ignoring Nat like always. He widened his arms and smirked, "Aren't you going to give me a hug first, instead of asking me that?"

I punched his guts which made his smirk grow larger. How does he always feel no pain at all?

"I am now still working, we can do that afterwards." I grunted in frustration. "So, does that mean I have the permission to have you in my arms for as long as I want afterwards?" He taunted with mischief twinkling in his dark orbs.

Instantly, I narrowed my eyes into slits. "You're impossible." I muttered under my breath, walking past him as I tried my best to hide my smile.

Somehow he was the reason why I was always wearing the smile he had given me. Seems like the mate bond was pulling us closer than ever.

"I second that." Nat butted in while I groaned, thoroughly annoyed by her.

Placing the magazines on the table, I grabbed my handbag and moved towards the sink to check my reflection. Noticing loose strands peeking out of my bun, I tugged my hair tie down, letting it flow into its usual waves.

"Apply some lip gloss, our mate will like that." Nat suggested, though I could feel a smirk tugged on her lips right now. I didn't make any noise to protest, but took out my lip gloss and applied a thin coat on my lips.

When I was done, I exited the room and quickly clocked out before winking at my colleague who was tying up the loose ends for the closing shift.

My mate was already walking towards me with a look as though he was deep in thoughts. His eyes flickered from my eyes to my lips briefly and smirked, "That color looks good on you, babe. Especially when it is applied on your lips because of me."

I groaned at his know-it-all attitude even though he was right this time. "I hate you, Tristan."

He smirked in response, "But deep down inside, you still love me."

"Yeah, yeah whatever that makes you happy."
