"I was wondering if I should just take you on that date already," Jungwon spoke up as he was walking Jiyeon home from school.
"What?" Jiyeon looked up to him, her cheeks slowly heating up.
"Yeah... I thought it's about time we stop flirtatiously teasing each other, and just begin lovingly teasing each other," Jungwon shrugged and smiled down at her blushing face, "what do you say? The carnival? This Sunday?"
"Oh... okay," Jiyeon hesitantly nodded, making a small grin spread on Jungwon's face.
"Great... let's just meet by the entrance to the carnival at... say 8.30pm?" he questioned her and she silently nodded in agreement.
Jiyeon stood patiently and waited. She clutched her phone in both her hands, continuously glancing down at it. What if he had stood her up? They had been at their small flirting for weeks and months by now, would he really just stand her up on their first date? She was beginning to believe it.
"Jiyeon!" a voice called out and she snapped her head up to the boy running towards her. His fluffy hair the usual deep raven color, a small smile resting on his face, revealing a deep dimple in one of his cheeks, "I'm so sorry I'm late, hyung needed me for something."
"It's fine, Jungwon," Jiyeon softly spoke, making him smile widely down at her, "let's just go, I've been able to smell the candyfloss from here for so long, and either I'm getting really hungry or nauseous."
"How about we go then?" Jungwon smiled widely and didn't even hesitate to grab her hand and intertwine their fingers before tugging her with him.
They walked their way through the colorful carnival, loud trotting music and bright lights were everywhere. They had walked around and admired the carnival for so long that they didn't even realize they had reached the edge of the space of the carnival.
"Look," Jungwon pointed towards the castle, standing on the next hill.
"How long do you suppose it has been there? People always say it's haunted and there's so many stories about it," Jiyeon cocked her head to the side as she frowned at it, making Jungwon look down at her.
"Probably hundreds and hundreds of years," he shrugged and gave her hand a small squeeze, "don't you think?"
"It must be," Jiyeon nodded at him, "you know... that type of architecture is really rare in Korea. The architecture was brought in from the European's way of building, which means it can't be much older than... I'd say 800 years?" Jiyeon looked up to him, as if he held the answer.
"I don't know," Jungwon shrugged. Jiyeon had always had a flair for architecture and its history, one thing Jungwon couldn't care less about, "how about we go get a candyfloss to share?"
"Oooh, can it be blue? I don't like the pink ones," Jiyeon remarked and scrunched up her nose.
"Blue is the prettiest anyway," Jungwon nodded at her and pulled her along to the candy floss stand they had passed some minutes ago.
As Jungwon began tugging Jiyeon along she looked back at the castle once more, and for just a second she could've sworn she saw a light flicker in one of the windows. Just for a split second.
"A blue candyfloss please," Jungwon spoke, making Jiyeon look back at him before looking up at the man who simply nodded and began making the candyfloss for them, "isn't it fascinating?" Jungwon nudged Jiyeon, seeing how dazed she suddenly seemed.
Her eyes landed back on the way the man was creating the candy floss before simply nodding at him and smiling at how delicately the man wounded up their candy floss.
"It looks like a small cloud," Jiyeon let out a small laugh before the man handed the candyfloss down to her and Jungwon paid, "I'll pay you back later."
"No, it's my treat," Jungwon assured and grabbed a small piece of the candy floss before they began walking again.
"Do you think this is how a cloud must feel to touch?" Jiyeon spoke before looking towards Jungwon, he was nowhere to be seen, "Jungwon?" she looked around herself in confusion. He had been there just moments before.
Coming to the only logical conclusion in her mind she decided he must've gone off to search for a toilet, and she simply hadn't heard him. Looking around herself she quickly found a bench to sit down on while she would wait for Jungwon, with a whole lot of patience.
"He'll come back and search for me, won't he?" Jiyeon muttered to herself as she glanced around herself.
For the next half hour Jiyeon sat and patiently waited for Jungwon, quietly watching as their candy floss melted and got more and more sticky. With a small sigh Jiyeon reached over and threw out the candy floss in the trash bin beside the bench. She had been lucky enough that her hands hadn't gotten sticky either.
Small overthinking thoughts began popping up in Jiyeon's head, he really had just stood her up in some way, hasn't he? He did arrive for the date, but he just ran off after some time. It was actually quite cruel and to be honest she would've rather had him stand her up by not showing up, over him actually showing up and just running off.
Completely lost and confused as to what to do, Jiyeon continued sitting on the bench. She could just walk home, if she had felt comfortable and safe with it. But her mom had driven her to the carnival and Jungwon had promised to walk her home... Well, he clearly wasn't planning on doing that. If he was planning on getting her safely home he surely would've returned to her, instead of leaving her to sit on the cold bench for hours on end.
Jungwon:
Here, come inside the castle
Take everything

Jiyeon frowned down at the small message on her phone. She knew it for sure was Jungwon, when she scrolled up she could see all their old messages they had sent to each other.
Jiyeon:
You must be kidding,I'm not going anywherenear that haunted shack
Seen 11:12pmJiyeon:
It's not funny Jungwonjust come back already,I want to go home
Jungwon:
Here, come inside the castle
Take everything

Jiyeon sighed as she looked up from her phone and craned her neck around to look at the castle on the next hill.
"Take everything?" Jiyeon frowned and looked back down at the texts, "take what? He wants me to rob the castle or what?"
Jiyeon frowned to herself, at least he wanted her to go somewhere. Who knows? He might be waiting for her there. But how do you get so lost at a carnival that you walk to the next hill and wait by the castle?
Feeling the anxiety grow as an endless pit in her stomach, Jiyeon slowly stood up from the bench and turned to look at the castle. Down in the small valley between the carnival and castle she could see another figure walking. At least she won't be going completely alone then. There would be someone in front of her if she sped up.
"I swear to god if this is some sort of sick joke that boy is not living to see another day," Jiyeon hissed to herself as she began walking towards the path that led up to the castle, "Taekwondo skills my ass, I'll kick that boy to Mars."
